Chapter Twenty-One

Start from the beginning

"You don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with," Taylor said quickly, "It's not that big of a deal."

- Mallory Williams seen on a romantic date with Harry Potter star Lilith Monroe. Is there something going on there?

Mallory held her hands over her nose and mouth as she watched Nathaniel change baby Tay's nappy. She turned around and murmured, "Where's Inez?"

"Sleeping," Nathaniel responded, "Don't you have your own house?"

"My house doesn't come with a three week old baby boy," Mallory shook her head fondly, "It's your anniversary tonight, isn't it?"

Nathan hummed, "Five years married to her," His smile was intoxicating.

"Want me to take him off your hands? I'll stay here and you can go to my house since it's not baby-proofed. I can stay with Taylor Junior until you guys want to come back."

Nathan's eyes squinted, "Seriously?" His sister-in-law nodded, "Thank you, Lory." The brunette shrugged nonchalantly, cheeks flushing. "He'll need changing every two-three hours and feeding equally as much... He gets cold easily and likes being held. If he starts crying, play him some music and/or sing to him- he likes that. Make sure he doesn't sleep for too long. Everything is hey you I'll go into his mouth needs to be sterilised. I'll go turn on the steriliser now, actually. I'll also ask Inez to pump some milk before we go. You know how to warm it up, rig-"

"Relax," Mallory cut Nathaniel off with a chuckle, "You go plan your date, I'll do the rest. And besides, I know how to look after a baby, I used to babysit, remember?"

Nathaniel chuckled and relaxed slightly, nodding. He retreated up to his bedroom as Mallory began gathering the baby's toys and bottles, bringing them over to the steriliser. She turned it on before walking back to the living room and sitting next to a sleeping Taylor.

A tired Inez came in not long after and sat down next to her sister, "Thank you," She whispered, resting her head on Mallory's shoulder.

"I'm sure anyone would have said yes if you had asked, 'Nez," Mallory shook her head, "It's no problem. Go have fun all day. Get drunk."

"I can't get drunk until Tay stops primarily breastfeeding," Inez murmured bitterly, rubbing her head, "I'm gonna go pump some milk, my boobs feel like they're going to blow up."

Mallory grimaced as her sister got up and walked to the kitchen. She returned a few moments later, having put more than enough bottles in the fridge.

"I'm gonna go get changed. You're sure you don't mind watching him all day?" Mallory shrugged, making her sister grin lazily, "I love you, Lory. My favourite sister by far."

"Love you, too, Inez," Mallory smiled back.

The couple left an hour later, leaving Mallory alone with the baby, who had just woken up. Mallory picked him up, and carried him to the kitchen and turned on the kettle, waiting for it to boil as she fetched a bottle out of the fridge. Once the kettle was done, she poured the water into a jug, letting the bottle float in it.

Once warmed up, they went back to the lounge and sat as Mallory fed the baby. She grinned at him, an overwhelming sense of baby fever washing over her. Baby Tay looked up at her a wave of confusion flooding through him when he realised that she wasn't his mother, but he relaxed when he seemingly recognised her, blue eyes sparkling.

Mallory wondered if he'd get his mum's hazel eyes or his dad's blue ones. He already had Nathaniel's dirty blonde hair and nose. So far, the only thing he'd inherited from Inez was the constant talking. He loved babbling incoherent words whenever he was awake.

The day came and went quickly and before they knew it, Inez and Nathaniel were stumbling through the door, hand-in-hand, laughing. Mallory was cuddling baby Tay gently on the sofa (the baby on the inside, of course) and the couple walked over to them.

"Mallory," Inez whispered, poking her little sister awake, "You can go now. Thank you so much for watching him."

Mallory whacked her hand away, "He's my baby," She murmured, "Taylor Junior... he's mine."

Inez snorted in amusement, "You're stealing my son?"

Mallory looked up at her and groaned in annoyance, "Fine. You can keep him."

The redhead smiled as her sister stood up, "Taylor Junior?"

"Taylor called him that once and it just stuck in my head," Mallory explained with a yawn, "Hey, you're glowing!" Her face dropped, "You didn't."

"It had been a while-"

"In my house!" Mallory exclaimed quietly, putting her hand on her forehead in distress.

"What did you expect? You put two very sexually frustrated adults together in a house, alone," Inez blushed in embarrassment, "You try not having sex for five months. You'd go crazy, you sex addict."

Mallory looked taken aback by her sister before turning around and picking up her bag, "You are not allowed in my house, ever again."

Inez scoffed and hugged her sister, "Thank you again."

"It was nothing. I'm going to be alone for over a month, so this little guy is just keeping me company," She chuckled, "I'm gonna go now. Bye, guys."

"See ya," Nathan hugged her before she left.

The brunette sighed when she got home and dropped her bag, dragged her hand down her face and collapsing on the couch. Lexie came rushing in and stretched on Mallory's lap, purring. The cat rubbed against Mallory's torso as the human stroked her fur softly.

"I miss her, too, but it's only been a week. We've got to get used to it, Lex. This is going to be for over a month," She sighed, "I just don't get why it couldn't have waited until after our anniversary. Six months is a big deal and we can't even celebrate it."

Lexie meowed, seemingly sympathetic of her mother's situation.

"You don't care, you're a cat," Mallory frowned, "I love you, Lexie. Thank you for jumping out of the window 10 months ago. It was stupid, but something great came from it."

She fell asleep on the couch and woke up to her phone ringing- a FaceTime request with her sisters. She answered it and August cursed her out immediately.

"August," Betty said calmly, cutting off the sixteen year old.

The actress sighed, "Please don't tell me you actually fucked it up with Taylor Swift." Mallory shut her eyes. "Mallory, please tell me this this is all just Tree trying to get the heat off of Taylor."

"It is," The older of the two said softly, making the other three sighed in relief, "And those 'romantic dates' with Lili aren't dates. We went out for brunch once and took a walk in the park because she's the only one of my friends that hasn't been busy recently. We've been planning Soraya's wedding."

"Oh," August said, "Sorry for doubting your fidelity, sis."

"I'm not, I was scared," Betty said honestly, "Taylor's like, my only friend and you're my sister. If you broke up and I had to choose a side..."

"You'd choose Taylor," Mallory rubbed the sleep out of her eye, "I'd choose Taylor, too." She admitted. "Now, leave me be. I'm tired."

"Sorry for calling," August said once more.

"Don't worry about it, kid."
