"What about it?" Mallory asked. Truthfully, she didn't remember anything before the age eleven, let alone hating her baby sister.

Betty shrugged, "She's been through a lot- more in the past year than the rest of her life."

Mallory felt bad. Her father dying then someone who she thought loved her leaving and then being trust back into work over three days? August was a hell of a lot stronger than she was.

The older sibling turned back around and shuffled around to get comfortable as Mallory did the same. She was falling asleep again. The rest of the journey to Adelaide was filled with Mallory falling in and out of sleep and playing games with her siblings and texting Taylor when she was awake.

When they landed, they got in two taxis and arrived at their grandparents's house. James knocked and a greying woman opened the door.

"Hi, Nana," James grinned, leaning down to hug the woman.

"Hello, Laila," Ana gave a polite smile and kissed the woman's cheek as she followed her boyfriend into the house, looking for their grandfather.

"Nana," Betty hugged her, "It's nice to see you again."

"You, too, Sweetheart," The woman grinned before looking to Mallory.

The smile was wiped straight off her face.

Laila scoffed and turned on her heel, walking into the house. Mallory turned to Betty, who giggled under her breath, "That's how she greeted me when I started dating Matt," She said, "She's mad at you."

"I got that, thanks," Mallory rolled her eyes and pushed past Betty (who now didn't bother to hide her laughs) into the house. "Nana, I'm sorry for not visiting sooner."

"You're sorry?" The woman asked humourlessly, "I'm getting old, I could have died in those six years, then what?"

Mallory frowned, "We kept in contact."

"I am your grandmother. 'Contact' isn't enough. I need to see you," Laila scoffed. Mallory's shoulders sagged and Laila frowned. She rolled her eyes and went to hug the 23 year old, "You always were my favourite, Lory."

Mallory grinned once more and rested her chin on the woman's head, sticking her tongue out at Betty, who scoffed quietly.

Laila broke away and turned to Betty, "You look pregnant."

Betty opened and closed her mouth like a fish trying to find her words before settling on, "I am."

Laila looked disgusted, "By that bastard of a man-child?"

"Matt and I broke up, Nana," Betty said instead of answering the question.

"Before or after he got you pregnant?"

"I-"

"Who wants tea?" Mallory clasped her hands together before muttering, "I'm going to need vodka to survive this week."

Mallory sat at a bar, she was almost drunk when the bartender handed her another four shots of vodka. Mallory looked at them skeptically, not having ordered them, but ended up shrugging, not turning down free alcohol.

The effects quickly came and a hand touched her shoulder, "Hey, stranger," Mallory flinched at the voice and collapsed down onto the bar.

"Please go away," She groaned as the chair she was sat on spun around. Mallory looked up at Lea with hooded eyes, "I hate you."

Lea tsked, "No, you don't," She didn't let herself get upset by the brunette's words. Lea's eyes raked up and down Mallory's body and the latter felt naked in her jeans and white shirt, "You look good, Mal."
