With the rest of her strength, she crawled into Mallory's wardrobe, leaving herself in the door. August sobbed, hands shaking, as she took out her phone. It took a while for it to unlock and actually call her sister.
-
Mallory gave a sympathetic smile and August looked down. "I don't even know how he knew. He just did."
"Knew what?"
August took in a deep breath. "Where we were."
-
"Are you sure?" Sawyer asked, standing against a tree.
"I feel like i should be asking you that," August chuckled softly, hands resting on Sawyer's hips.
"I'm more than sure." Sawyer nodded over enthusiastically.
August looked down in embarrassment, "never have I ever before done anything like this." She admitted.
"Me neither," Sawyer shook her head, "Don't worry. I'm just as nervous as you are." Sawyer leant up to kiss her lips. "I want this, Goose. Please."
August nodded, leaning down to kiss Sawyer's lips gently.
"Hey!" The demonic voice of the man both of them had been hiding from cut in.
August froze, pulling away from Sawyer in fear. Sawyer looked in her eyes, "Goose, just look at me, okay?"
August shook her head rapidly, shutting down. Her breathing became erratic as Gregory pulled her away.
"Bog off, kid," he sneered at Sawyer, who stood her ground.
"Let her go."
Gregory backhanded Sawyer, leaving August to watch in fear. "Come on," Gregory dragged August to his car, leaving a bleeding Sawyer on the ground. "What did I tell you?"
August mumbled the words emotionlessly.
"Louder!" He barked, making the teenager flinch.
August repeated her words like a mantra until they got home. It was what Gregory had asked after all.
-
August had tears in her eyes as she explained to Mallory what had happened before she called her. At some point she had ended up in her sister's arms. The older of the two cooed and stroked her hair until the alarm on her phone went off.
August sat up, excusing herself to go to the bathroom and fix up as Mallory paid for their drinks and tidied up. When August came back out, they left, walking back the way they came before walking back down to the set.
Whilst August was at the script read-through, Mallory sat in her trailer and opened her laptop, logging onto a Zoom call.
"Hi, Mallory," her therapist greeted with a wave, fixing her glasses on her face.
"Greeting, doctor," Mallory tipped her head back.
Dr. Burns was a nice woman, she was funny and sweet, not to mention that she knew how to get a laugh out of Mallory. The brunette wouldn't necessarily call her a friend, but they were friendly when they'd see each other in public- a hug in greeting and a handshake maybe.
Mallory had started seeing Dr. Burns after Lea had left her high and dry, longing for the touch of a woman. It was her siblings' idea, considering that the effects of manipulation can last a long time- they wanted Mallory to be her best self, always.
Now, five years later, Mallory found herself looking forward to their sessions, though she'd never admit that to Burns. This week's session was to be a reflection on everything that happened the past month, from being forced to see her father again, to celebrating one month with Taylor.
