They Wanted Her

Antonio goes down in the morning and gently picks Gia off of Lorenzo and lays her on the couch making sure to prop her foot up and cushion it so it's comfortable. He gently wakes Lorenzo up. "Are you taking her to school?" He whispers so he doesn't wake her up.

"She says her foot doesn't feel that good still." Lorenzo replied feeling another pinch in his neck
Antonio massages his neck to help him.

"Go lay in bed and sleep for a few hours. I'll take care of her if she wakes up. I can cancel meetings and do work from home today." He says helping him stand up.

Lorenzo leaves and Antonio sits in the chair so he's close to Gia. Gia sleeps for an hour longer. Soon she starts to whimper and move in her sleep and she wakes up with a panicked look on her face.

"Gia?" Antonio asked waking her up.

Gia looks un with tears in her eye. "Hi daddy." She says biting her lip to stop from crying. "I had a bad dream." She says wiping tears out of her eyes. She looks around looking for Lorenzo. "Can we go in the car?" She asks randomly.

Antonio was shocked by her request but carried her to it. "Why the car baby?" He asked her.

"Ummmm." She hesitates. "I want a smoothie but not a green smoothie." She says quickly and lets him strap her into her seat.

Antonio sighs "We can buy now but you can only drink it after lunch." He says and goes in his seat to drive figuring she had a bad dream.

Gia stays completely silent while he drives which is different from her usual nonstop chatter. He gets her smoothie and starts to drive back.

When Lorenzo calls, Gia instantly jumps and lets out a whimper when she sees his name flash on Antonio's phone. Antonio and him talk for a few seconds and then they say their goodbyes. "Wait daddy! Can we go to a restaurant for lunch? I'm really hungry now" She asks quickly trying to avoid going home.

"Daddy is making food at home and we're very near if you're hungry." Antonio replies and headed home.

"Daddy no! Please! I'll be good. Can we go shopping?" She asks quickly knowing how much Antonio likes to shop for her.

"The malls aren't open yet silly." Antonio says chuckling and parked his car on their driveway.

Gia whines and holds the straps so he can't unstrap her. "I don't want to go inside. I want to eat lunch out." She says with a panicked look on her face.

"Hi baby! did you have a good sleep?"
Lorenzo says as he gets out of their door to pick Gia up.

Gia puts her head down and refuses to acknowledge him. She is still holding onto her car seat straps.

Antonio gives her a confused look and pulls her hands away in one of his and uses his other hand to unstrap her. He pulled her into his arms and tries to hand Gia to Antonio. "No!" She starts to cry and holds tightly into Antonio's neck refusing to go Lorenzo.

"Hi baby what's wrong?" Lorenzo asked reaching to her while Antonio gives her to
him.

"No! No! No!" She screams loudly thrashing and twisting in his arms instantly starting to panic. "You hurt me!" She screams at him and tries to hit him.

"Hurt you??" Lorenzo asked shocked not knowing he did.

"Yes! I had a bad dream you hurt me." She says still upset. "I only ever dream bad things that happened to me so that means you had to beat me at some point." She yells knowing it makes sense to her but probably to no one else.
Lorenzo looked over to Antonio who took an angry Gia that was wiggling in his arms.
