Y/N's POV:

"I'll make you a deal. I'll do ten years. And in exchange, I'll give you enough dirt on this bitch to put her away for life."

There's so many thoughts and emotions flowing through you that you're not even sure how you feel. Happy, sad, annoyed, humored, and everything in between. Your eyes shift nervously between everyone on the defense, and Seokjin stiffens next to you.

"Make it fifteen and then we'll talk," Ji-Ho says, leaning forward on his elbows.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" Ma-Ri shouts, grabbing Sung-ho by the collar. "Are you seriously selling me out?!"

"Ironic," you snort under your breath, making Jin chuckle.

"Ten," Sung-ho says, still looking at Ji-Ho and ignoring his baby mama. "Not only will I give you everything you need to know about Ma-Ri but I'll also guarantee my parents get custody of the child."

"Sung-ho," Mr. Park growls, also standing to his feet. "You need to-"

"You're fired," he says, cutting him off and looking into his eyes. Tears are still falling down his face but he seems calm. He knows what he's doing. "I'll get my own counsel. You were never here to defend me, only her."

Hot tears are now pouring from Ma-Ri's eyes too, but she's not heartbroken or devastated like Sung-ho is. She's simply livid that she's not getting her way. "You're just like your bastard of a brother," she hisses, but he doesn't even flinch.

"How are you going to guarantee where the child ends up?" Ji-Ho asks, acting like Mr. Park and Ma-Ri aren't even there. "We can't send her parents to prison too."

"What if you could?"

Ji-Ho's eyes widen because the Chang family is quite wealthy and influential. Sung-ho wouldn't be this confident if he didn't have some dirt on them.

A loud pop rings through the small conference room, and everyone is still as Sung-ho's head jerks to his left. A bright red handprint slowly forms across his cheek and jaw, drastically contrasting against his pale skin.

"You'd better know what you're doing," Ma-Ri grits through her teeth, keeping her hand in place after slapping Sung-ho with all her might. "Fix your attitude now or there's no going back."

He slowly turns his head back towards her, looking at her with a completely unreadable expression, but you can see the anguish behind his eyes. Seokjin can too and he tightens his arm around your shoulder, giving you a reassuring squeeze. Sung-ho then turns to his brother, meeting his eyes again.

This time, Seokjin boldly holds eye contact with him, letting him know he won't be ignored or abandoned like that if he makes the right decision now. That doesn't mean he's being forgiven. That doesn't mean their bond can ever be repaired. But he's giving him the chance to redeem himself even if it's just one tiny step.

"I'll let [Y/N] make the call," Ji-Ho says, looking over at you. "Ten years or fifteen?"

Sung-ho's eyes shift to you, and all the pent up hatred you hold for him courses through you. The beatings you took from Bom and Ga-Ram flash through your mind, and your body remembers how painful all those bruises and cracked ribs felt every day. But most of all, your heart hurts remembering how he isn't even sorry. Or at least he wasn't. But he probably is a little bit now.

Your heart still breaks for him even if he doesn't deserve it. But that doesn't mean you're going to go easy on him.

"Fifteen," you say flatly, making him bite into his lip and look down. "But you'll be eligible for parole for good behavior. Only if you can give my attorney proof your parents will be guaranteed custody of the child."
