Still, it pegged him insane at how fast Peter was still improving.

Almost as if..

"Friday?" He muttered, careful not to disturb the near-wrestle match that had begun, "have you gotten any strange readings from Peter since he got back?".

There was a moment left for her to pause, and Stephen looked over at the two again. Peter had Tony in a monitored headlock, and Stephen could see the phone stuck to Peter's back beneath the small sliver of skin showing at the line between his pants and shirt. He snorted.

"Peter has indeed had a strange reading on him, however, it has not breeched any concerns so far. I've been monitoring it closely, as you requested" Friday's voice interrupted.

"What??" Stephen looked up.

Why had Friday said that? Stephen didn't remember asking her for anything.

"What strange readings?" He faced away from Tony and Peter, setting his cup on the counter.

"I am unsure, as I told you before. It is unlike anything I have ever examined, and it blocks many of my readings on him, but it seems as if it is another presence" she explained, "although I had assumed you were aware. I can see it just as well as I can see you, or anyone else on the team".

"You can see—" he turned around again, trying to see this 'third presence'.

"Yes sir. I had initially assumed it was a friend, but I now have an explanation as to why it was never addressed, nor does it reply. Would you like me to talk to Peter about it tonight?" She asked helpfully, Stephen's mind running miles.

"No, no it's fine" he waved off, not really hearing what she said as his eyes roamed the room for anything out of the ordinary.

There was a flash of green, and then black.

"What the—"

Suddenly, he found himself tripping into glass. The mirror dimension, to be more specific.

The problem? He wasn't the one who opened it.

"Doctor Strange" he heard a voice ripple, as if it was through a wall of water, "we meet again".

Stephen gave no reply, already armed and alert as he glanced around the shifting room. The voice got clearer, but he still couldn't spot the speaker.

"I mean you no harm, but I must ask you to stop pursuing me" he couldn't find the source, scaring him more than he'd like to admit.

"Who are you!?" He shouted, attempting to sound threatening and authoritative, which only worked every so often against amateurs. Something told him it wouldn't have that effect here.

Before him, he noticed a man. The man had been there the whole time, but somehow Stephen had missed him. Standing right there, in front of him.

Said individual flipped his hair back, a green batch of mohawk hair swooping to the side as he shrugged. He tapped on his name tag carelessly, close enough for Stephen to read it point blank.

"I'm David" he spoke, just in case Stephen was too stubborn to read it, "and I am at my wits end with you, 'sorcerer supreme'"  he half mocked, taking a step forward.

Stephen instinctively took one back, cursing himself at showing intimidation to the strange man.

"To what do I owe the pleasure?" Stephen gritted out, raising his arms up with defensive intent.

"Oh you have been no pleasure at all, no offense pal. I think you're pretty dope, and it's nice how protective you are of the kid, but this is the third time I've had to pull you aside and tell you to buzz off" David explained leisurely, as if that actually helped Stephen understand, "I thought I'd take you to a place you knew this time, make you more comfortable or something". David gestured to the mirror dimension, which shifted soundlessly around them.
