Fred's here to help you guys through the recent chapters. Seems like some of you have had a rough time 😔
Second period, having only lasted the lesser part of 7 minutes for Peter, was not enough time for MJ to spiral into interrogation mode. Mostly because Peter would t let her. She was one person he knew he couldn't keep a secret from if he was actively fighting it, so he just avoided it entirely.
It seemed to work, he made sure to try and keep the conversation on a topic she might consider secretive to him, attempting to make it seem like he was looking to her for an outlet, in the best way possible.
For once, his plan worked.
Of course, he felt weird talking about how much he thought about things that were unrelated to his current dilemma, but it helped. It really did. Even though it wasn't his immediate danger, talking about it (even if for 7 minutes), was so much more helpful than he thought it could be.
Third period, he was back with Ned.
They chatted about the random schedule change, subtly nodding to the fact that the author entirely forgot that they'd actually wrote down and prepared themselves a schedule key for Peter, including names, periods, and even whole ass class numbers. Hell, there was a map to show how long they needed to take between classes! Apparently that wasn't enough bc they just completely forgot all of that during a 3am angsty scene. Thanks btw, me. Love that.
Peter had seemed a lot more energetic than Ned had expected based off of their past few conversations. In fact, he seemed to be extremely bouncy.. in a way to put it. Just.. abnormally hyper.
The teacher sort of let the class hang loose after explaining the rules, so Peter and Ned really just spent the whole time talking.
"You'd totally tell me if there was some super secret villain you and the avengers were fighting, yeah?" Ned asked, pouring out some led from his pencil to share with Peter, "because that is still in the rule book you know".
"Of course, man. Why wouldn't I?" Ned could hardly understand what Peter was saying, he was talking so fast.
It was difficult to tell that Peter was distracted with his own thoughts when his replies were immediate and his hands were constantly occupied.
"I dunno, I don't see you so much since you moved in with them" he proceeded to push down the led for his pencil, shoving it back in when it got too long and repeating it.
"Well.."
"Not that there's anything wrong with that! I totally get it, and I bet it's a lot easier for you with a bunch of people who know what's going on. It's always best to tell someone when something was wrong. Take all the time you need! I just.." he thought of the words to say, "I don't know dude, you just keep reaching higher levels. It's insane. It feels like last month that I saw you take off the suit for the first time".
Peter nodded quickly. He seemed to zoom through faster than Ned was expecting, as a topic of this matter would usually result in a second or two of silence. His just interjected in immediately.
"Trust me, I know" he sighed, leaning back, "I just.. I need some time, I think. I don't want to abandon you guys, but a lot has happened and I think.." this time the pause did come, "I don't think it's over" he whispered.
Ned didn't like that.
He didn't like that at all.
"You mean like the whole lawyer situation going on? Tony Stark is gonna blow that out of the water. I thought he'd already got her a permanent location?".
This seemed to make Peter realize how he'd drifted out. It was hard to filter himself when everything was so loud. He could hear Page sniffing from two classrooms over.
