(Here is a picture I drew for last chapter. It's rushed a bit but I think it shows what I mean alright lol. Tony's arm might need a chiropractor, but other than that we chill for now)
A few weeks went by. Peter was reunited with his friends and more comfortably fit into the wacky schedule that'd been set up previously.
They finally had CPS ready to officiate the adoption, with just the last few questions for the teen's safety in one of the most targeted towers in the world. Once that was over and done, all they'd have to worry about was the periodic 6 month checkups until the deadline, which also happened to be in the same month Peter turned 18.
That was far ahead though, much further ahead than what needed to be addressed.
Most of the team was well acquainted with Peter by now, starting from the occasional bump-ins to the optional Saturday tournaments Peter was invited to. It'd hadn't been so long that he was entirely comfortable with everyone, but they were no longer surprised to see him wandering around every now and again.
Three weeks wasn't the longest amount of time, but through those days he'd been admitted to the system, reapplied for Tony's guardianship, granted a speedy trial period for the legalities of the whole adoption (probably something of Tony's doing), and readmission back to his school after doing make-up work.
Obviously, he was still jittery and cautious, but lesser so around Tony and Stephen. For the most part, that is.
Another thing, today was about to be his first day back in school.
He was a little bit stressed.
"Heyy, ankle-biter" Tony greeted Peter, lifting his cup of coffee as a greeting, "how'd you sleep?"
Peter yawned, sliding into the kitchen counter.
He learned that the reason this place wasn't always so crowded was because Tony had kitchens for each floor. Only 5-6 people lived on this floor, and the living room in it was only really meant for moments like Peter's first night here. There was one two floor downs that took up two more, designed for larger team hangouts.
"Depends on how my morning is" he smiled, wiping the sleep from his eyes.
"That's the spirit" Tony winked, pouring himself some of Thor's limited edition pop tart cereal, "school is in half an hour though, go get ready. I'll leave this out for you but I've gotta go make sure I set DUM-E on idle mode before he destroys my lab again" Tony headed towards the door, taking a bite of his cereal as he did so.
"Hey uh— mr Stark. Before you go.. uh.. I was wondering.." Peter spun his chair to face Tony, looking as if he'd been debating this question for a while, "could I uh.. go out as Spiderman tonight? Like, maybe not go beating people up yet, but I want to get back into shape a bit" he avoided eye contact, knowing that usually helped with May.
Tony looked like he considered it for a moment, giving himself another spoonful before replying.
"I'll talk to Stephen, just get ready for school. And have a good day" he shrugged, walking out of the room.
Peter groaned loudly, really yearning for some web-action that day. He'd felt so cramped up here for so long. He thought he'd be cool with it, but he always got a nagging feeling in his senses if he sat down too long.
Pulling himself from the counter stool, he made his way to his room to get changed.
Half an hour rolled by, Tony on call with Peter as he bolted out of the car and into the school building.
"I'm just saying, I warned you when school started!" Peter could tell Tony was shrugging through the phone, causing him to roll his eyes as he huffed, swinging open the door.
