Skip scoffed, looking to Peter in defeat. The rage in his eyes made it all the worse.

Peter looked down, trying to take deep breaths as the footsteps began again. Skip was leaving. He felt tears prick in his eyes as the door opened up again. The class was dead silent now.

"See me after school, Peter!" Skip yelled from outside the door.

The class didn't resume talking immediately like it normally would've. Stiles had awkwardly moved over to his phone instead of jumping back into conversation with Peter. Whatever was happening, he didn't want to be dragged into it.

After a moment of Mr Burley staring at the door, he too, looked over to Peter.

"Come here Peter," he instructed, opening the door, "I want to talk to you about something".

That was never good. Especially not in Cornered Hallway.

He didn't feel any buzzing at his neck when he stood up though, so it couldn't be that bad. He couldn't cloud his judgement on every teacher just because some prick decided they wanted to vacate all that was holy to Peter.

Once they were out in the hallway, Mr Burley shut the door softly.

This alone was strange enough. Mr Butley was a loud guy. He's the type of dude who calls out students for talking to quietly. He was like a drama teacher who decided to do robotics instead. It was actually terrifying to see him not making a joke or something to break the silence.

"I'm just going to cut to the chase here Peter" Mr Burley started, "both Ms Janis and Ms Mac said he came to their classrooms to pick you up. I'm going to bet and say that he went to all of your classes. Is that correct?"

Okay, this wasn't weird at all. Peter assumed that he'd forgotten to wipe his eyes or something, because apparently an action he did (or was noticed) in the past two seconds warranted Mr Burley to sigh as if it'd just been confirmed.

No point going back on that part. Peter's mind raced for excuses to any new questions that could come up, scraping at nothing despite how fast he was thinking.

"Do you know why?" He asked, "I know it's probably a coincidence, but he's been getting on my nerves lately. You're all caught up in my class, and most of your others. I don't see why he'd make such a big deal out of it—"

Peter cut off the thoughts that he was thinking aloud, worried he might come to some sort of conclusion. That seemed to happen a lot more than it should've.

"I know why. I said I'd meet up with someone for a project. He's been trying to find a period so we can work together in his class" Peter said quickly,   biting the inside of his cheek.

"Ah" he nodded. There was a brief pause of thought before he continued, "well you finished your log for the day, what's the student's name? I'll email their teacher and see if they can come to my achieve for today. My class is cooler anyways" Mr Burley gave what could've been the start to a barking laugh, if Peter hadn't remained quiet.

It was common knowledge to laugh along with Mr Burley. Even if the joke was awful, he would call you out for it, and make you do little chores to make up for your 'lack of appreciation for true comedy'

He did none of those things to Peter though.

Why?

Because Peter knew he'd been had. Even if he'd brushed it off, this was an inevitable outcome. He needed now to find something that would warrant him lying, but also excuse the boldness of Skip going to every one of him damn classes throughout the day.

For someone who took precautionary actions that got past Tony Stark himself, he seemed pretty fucking stupid if a teacher managed to suspect him in less than two days.
