Peter and Tony snorted simultaneously.
"I'm never showing him how to work a phone again. I mean, what the hell am I supposed to do with this?" He threw the paper in the general direction of the pile. Peter was amazed at how it seemed to land on it perfectly and effortlessly.
"Guess time will tell" Tony joked, hopping off of the counter.
While facing away and headed to the pancakes, Stephen tapped Peter's arm lightly.
Peter did nothing less but jump a bit, but it went unoticed by Stephen's careful eye on Tony.
Peter granted the wizard a confused look, who took that as his cue to act.
He made a portal to where Tony's head was on the counter, compared to how low it was on the floor.
Peter, assuming he got it, gave a little smile.
Was Stephen calling him short? And the counter being a spot to feel taller?
Either way, Stephen wasn't done yet. He stood up, walking suspiciously close to that of the pink panther in many shots, sneaking up behind Tony.
Tony seemed occupied enough trying to find the syrup amidst the uncharacteristically messy shelves.
This made it all the much funnier when Stephen reached less than a foot away, then halting the hunched posture he'd borrowed for his journey, and reaching full height. He put his hand up to his head, and slid it across the same height over above Tony's head.
It looked like there was an entire foot height difference.
The combination of how easily Stephen did it, with the expression on his face, on top of Tony caving in to standing on his tippy toes caused a sputtering laughter to shoot out.
Stephen was grinning now too, prancing back over to his seat through a portal as quickly and quietly as he could before Tony could swivel around and spot the humorous occasion before it slipped by, a common theme in the tower of highly trained pranksters.
Peter, having prepared once he at least realized there was about to be chaos, reached across the counter for his phone, holding it out in front of Stephen and himself and just staring at it while he laughed at Tony.
"What's so funny?" Tony asked, falling for the ploy.
Stephen caught on, directing his laughter towards the blank phone screen as if he'd just leaned back to laugh more.
This caused the two of them to crack up more, Stephen's volume overpowering Peter's by a landslide.
It seemed short jokes were a dangerous topic, but somehow the funniest thing in the world to Stephen. Peter had literally never seen this guy laugh so hard.
"Hey, aren't you gonna show me?" Tony asked, spinning his finger at Peter jokingly, "I'm the cool guy here, your jokes are supposed to be with me".
Peter set the phone down, giving an apologetic shrug, "I clicked refresh while we were laughing" he lied, unaware that the normal guilt he felt with this sort of thing didn't seem to want to make its grand entrance.
"Assholes" Tony muttered, turning back to the plate of pancakes, "even after I take the liberty of making pancakes. Do you have any idea how hard that is?"
"Yes, honey, I do. Because unlike you, I'm the one who actually made them" Stephen grabbed another piece of paper, replying without looking.
"Details details. Point is, I'm literally the funniest guy here, inside jokes are my forte" he pointed the spatula at the two of them accusingly.
