I have not read this chapter yet

"Oh! So like a nuclear fuel cell or an energy containment. They had the tesseract around the same time they had you, right? What if they used energy from that? Do you think there's a time limit?" His questions were more than anything Bucky knew about.

90% of his operations were while he was asleep/in a coma, or hyped up on so many drugs that he wasn't even sure if he knew what the color purple was anymore, so he wasn't much help there. The other 10%.. well, not much information could be picked up when you're screaming so loud that you wouldn't be able to hear a firework go off right next to you.

"Uh.. yeah" he said, flexing the hand that was in Peter's lap.

He also didn't know that could happen apparently, and Bucky found it a bit funny when the kid jumped.

"Can you feel from it?" Peter asked, holding it more cautiously then at the thought.

"When it's attached, yeah. Not like normally though," he explained, lifting his other hand to look at it, "kinda feels like when a numbing shot starts to wear off. Nothing really.. hurts, per say, but I can feel from it, yes. It took a while to get used to. Feeling from a literal metal surface makes everything feel fuzzy or soft. Like hands, they're always like someone dragging a blanket across it, if that makes sense", he tried his best explaining it, having done so not as many times as other topics, but he'd still had the chance to pick up a comparison or two.

"That's crazy.." Peter blew air out, lifting it up again to feel how heavy it was.

"Balanced weight to my other arm" Bucky commented when he realized why Peter was doing that, "didn't want me all lopsided, it'd take too long to get used to".

"You've gotta pack some serious muscle if this is how heavy your arm is" Peter chuckled, "it's the size of my whole leg, maybe bigger".

"I don't think that's healthy" Bucky reached for it, sensing that Peter's questions would only get more detailed the longer he had to ponder on them.

"How much can it carry?" Peter surrendered the limb, entranced by it as he heard the clicks and clinks signal the attachment, followed by a quiet hum he could only assume was the connection.

"Uhm.. I carried a truck once" he sat back down where he was before, the back of the couch being too far for him to lean back on.

"Oh sick, me too!" Peter was so excited to find a niche common ground that he'd overlooked how fresh into the secret Bucky was, "a couple times, actually. There are way too many super powered bad guys out there tossing them around like snowballs. Freaked me out for so long the first time" he chuckled, reaching for his sleeve to show off the scar he'd gotten before he had a mental zap. He lowered his arms.

"You've had cars.. thrown at you?" Bucky asked, unbelieving that this pipsqueak he'd been babysitting off and on for the past few weeks was out there playing catch with hulks evil cousin, bulk, as it seemed.

"A building once too. Well— it wasn't thrown at me, but it did land on me when the dude took out all of the supports. I thought I was gonna.." Peter hadn't fully realized yet how stupid it was to start stories to brag about on topics he knew he'd be affected by, but that didn't seem to stop him.

Bucky gave a nod of understanding, urging Peter to comfortably move on from it.

"Yeah.. so, it's not always the best I guess" he seemed to do it pretty well compared to normal.

"Hardly ever is, kid. Can we backtrack though? You said a building fell on you?" Bucky was now more concerned about that than anything.

"What was one of your scariest missions!" Peter changed the topic, ignoring Bucky's question.

Instead of pressing, he just rolled his eyes and answered. He did take into account that Peter considered that one one of the scariest, so he'd try to stay clear on the topic of.. falling buildings.

"I didn't know it at the time, but I think the one when I was sent after Rogers" he admitted, squinting off into the distance in thought, "everyone knows I could beat him in a fight, no question obviously, but if I did, I could've been stuck like that forever. I could've killed my best friend and never have even known".

"Oh shit dude.." Peter had heard about the fight of course, practically dove himself into a pit of research on it when he first found out, but he never even stopped to consider Bucky's point of view on it.

"Yeah, not one of my best moments" he said nonchalantly, popping his neck.

Peter would have to agree. That did not sound fun at all.

"Peeta!" Tony yelled from the other room, "What is your favorite ice cream flavor?"

Peter had heard what Tony said, but hadn't fully processed it yet.

"What??" He shouted back.

"Favorite ice cream!"

"One more time?"

"Never mind, I'll just get all of them"

"Wait no—" Peter hopped over the back of the couch, not caring how agile it seemed anymore to try and stop Tony from spending two billion bucks on something Peter would hardly eat.

Bucky watched with a controlled expression as the kid ran into the kitchen, yelling ensuing soon after.

He'd changed a lot since Tony got to him.

Man I really feel sexy some days

I'll be honest I only remember what like 30% of this chapter is, and I'm not gonna go back and read through the whole thing to edit it rn, so I apologize for any missed mistakes or really weird prompts lol. This would probably be what most chapters are like if I never edited, prompt wise.

Anywhoosies, enjoy this chapter with almost 6000 words, along with your day, or I will be blacklisting you from the wifi

Love you all 💛💛💛

Sincerely, a current resident of the time 3am 😩👌
