"Peter, you're not a—"
"Radioactive spider bite" he answered too quickly, assuming the next question (as was the usual question), would be the actual cause of it.
Bucky didn't bother finishing his sentence, assuming Peter's mind had already moved on from it. No need to bring it up again.
"How long after it bit you did you figure all this out?" He asked, deciding to indulge into the topic while he waited for Tony to finish whatever phone call he was on.
"Next morning" he shrugged, "but the whole sticking to walls thing took a while to get the hang of. Accidentally broke a door. My aunt wasn't too happy" he'd gotten quite used to talking about his aunt openly to people lately, but he was still practically strangers with Bucky, so it felt weirder than normal.
"It changed your DNA overnight?" He asked, hearing a door slam as Nebula exited somewhere. She only shut them quietly sneaking around.
"I've put way too much thought into it and come up with way too little for me to be able to answer that for you"
Bucky nodded.
"Interesting" he said.
Bucky flicked a crumb he spotted on his pants, trying to figure out if this silence was unorthodox or a general conversational pause.
"Can I touch your arm?" Peter asked, lifting a pillow up a little bit.
He took it as the latter.
"I don't see why not" he stood up and made his way over to Peter.
Bucky lowered it into Peter's arm as he reached for it. He'd had plenty of people ask the same question, so he wasn't too bothered by it anymore. Yeah, he had to sanitize it more often from all of the grimy hands and stains left over, but that wasn't much of a hassle in the grand scheme of things. Besides, the look of fascination people had while messing with something so mundane to him was almost always worth it.
"How does it stay on for you to pick things up?" He asked, running his fingers over the ripples built for movement.
Bucky wordlessly detached it, apparently something Peter didn't know was possible judging from the light gasp he gave when Bucky set it in his lap to pull his sleeve back.
"Uh.. they've got it built into me. Bunch of metal in there" he let his finger hover in the area of the metal ball bone poking out of the nub, and he moved it up and down a bit to show how it'd function with the arm actually on.
"Oh! So it's like a cybertonic skeletal structure built into you. Is it's movement powered stemming off of your muscles or did they figure out how to make it controlled by your brain or something? Or even— no that wouldn't work," He asked, propping the arm upright in his lap so he could examine the point where it'd hook on.
"Uhm.." Bucky thought about it, "brain, I think".
"Sick" Peter breathed, shifting one of the inner plates, "do you need to charge it?" He asked, looking around as if there was a charger port.
Yeah, pardon me, lemmie just plug in my arm real fast, I'll be right with you.
"No. I think I heard it was something about.. uh.. nuclear.." he looked to the nub, "things?"
