"Its not hard to clean out—"
"And another thing!" Bucky didn't let him finish, and Tony was given a moment to absorb all of these new things to worry about before Bucky extended the list, "how old are you??".
"16, but I—"
"Sixteen!" Bucky yelled, throwing his hands up into the air, "he's sixteen!" Bucky looked at Tony with an exasperated expression, as if Tony didn't know this and was already having a field day stressing over it.
Tony ignored that and looked down to the kid.
"I thought you were 15?" He said quieter, taking his arm off of Peter's shoulders and stepping back to look at him.
"August passed, right? I'm pretty sure I'm 16 now" he tried doing the math in his head just to be sure, but Bucky was on a roll.
"He doesn't even know!" Bucky gestured to the kid, stealing Tony's attention again, "where the hell did you get him??".
"That's not for me to tell, but I have to call Stephen, I can't believe we missed his birthday. You keep an eye on him." he began to pull out his phone, turning away from the conversation.
Peter felt cornered again without Tony in front of him, and was left with a riled up Bucky and a lost-in-thought Nebula.
"How did you even start??" Bucky ignored Tony leaving, stepping closer to Peter.
Peter lost his confidence at the approach, stepping back swiftly. Bucky looked in between about to murder someone and the face someone would get after seeing a puppy get punted into a meat blender.
Peter's inside of his knee bonked against the couch, sending him into a sitting position while Bucky towered over him.
This seemed to snap the man out of it, and he took a step back so that his shadow wasn't mimicking a horror scene murder set up.
Peter scooted back to the couch as Bucky gave a long sigh. He walked over and sat on the side against the wall.
Peter didn't say anything, just looking between Nebula's blank stare and Bucky, as the soldier let his elbows rest on his knees, and his head in his hands.
"I'm sorry" he finally said, doing his best to make it clear that everything that'd just happened was on no way directed at Peter.
"It's cool" Peter said, relaxing a little bit, back on the 'I don't like you feeling bad' mode.
Bucky, normally, might've snapped a bit and said 'no' in a sharp tone or some bull crap this author keeps using to scare the kid, but he caught himself beforehand.
"It really isn't. I was just.. concerned" he looked to Peter sincerely, "You already know about the whole 'brainwashing soldier' business, I gather, yes?" He altered the topic a bit, aware that his situation might've been less public than most, but to someone this close to the team, he was certain it was as light of a topic as breakfast.
"Yeah.." he wasn't sure where this was going, until he actually looked over Bucky's actions, "oh, no! No it's not like that. Total accident here. Probably in more ways than one" he waved his hands, chucking awkwardly.
