Traveling through Shy Guy's Toy Box, Mario and Co. searched for the Star Spirit and the stolen goods. Whatever reason the Shy Guys had for stealing from Toad Town, it was clear they still acted like kids. They put their thoughts aside when they arrived at the Pink Station.

As the train stopped, the septet saw the tracks were broken ahead. meaning they had to find the lever to fix the tracks. Mario and Co. went down the left path first this time. As they fought some Spy Guys and Medi Guys, they could see an overweight Shy Guy sitting in a huff.

"Who're you?" Mario asked curiously.

"Everyone calls me Gourmet Guy," he introduced, "I don't know why. I'm just an ordinary, food-loving Shy Guy."

"I'm so hungry," he sighed.

"Would you like one of our mushrooms?" Luigi pulled one out of his pocket.

Gourmet Guy just shook his head, "No. I'm craving something sweet, yet airy."

Mario and his friends were puzzled by this, so they decided to go the right path from before. Up ahead, Kammy just spawned a Hammer Bro. and gave him the orders for defeating Mario and Co. Unlike the Blue Station, there were fewer jack-in-the-boxes, but there were plenty of Sky Guys. Once they took care of the Shy Guys, they came across a dead end. Until they saw a Shy Guy come out of a secret doorway. Waiting at the right time, they snuck through and confronted the Hammer Bro.

Engaging in battle, the Hammer Bro. threw hammers in a fury. The heroes quickly took cover, but then Luigi remembered the Repel Gel and placed some on him. The Hammer Bro. was confused where Luigi went, but not before he was knocked out by another hammer. They opened the chest and found Tayce T.'s frying pan. So they went back to Toad Town to return the pan.

"Oh, Mario! Luigi! You found my dear, dear frying pan!" Tayce T. cried in joy, "Thank you all so much!"

"You're welcome," said Kooper.

"There must be something I can do to return the favor,"

"Now that you mention it. We could use your help with a recipe," Bow said.

"There's a Shy Guy that said he was craving something sweet, yet airy. We were hoping you might know what he's talking about," Goombario explained.

"I believe I know what you're talking about dearies. I'll get started right away!"

Without explanation, Tayce T. whipped up a delicious piece of cake and handed it to Mario.

"This is my famous strawberry shortcake," she said, "One taste of it won my late darling's heart. I swore I'd never make it again, but you and your friends are very special, Mario."

"Thank you," Mario replied, "Well guys. Let's feed our Gourmet Guy."

Back at the Pink Station, Mario handed Gourmet Guy the cake and he took a bite out of it. Soon as he swallowed it, he dropped his knife and fork with his face stunned.

"Oh... oh, mmmm... Delicious!!!" he exclaimed, "This is lip-smacking good! Yum!"

Gourmet Guy did some zoomies around the area before jumping up in the sky. As the septet watched, they were mixed with stunned and amazed.

"Well... that was something," said Parakarry.

Mario and Co. shrugged it off and went on the other side of the tracks to pull the pink lever to fix the tracks. But before they could get to the train, something called out to them.

"Hey! Wait up!"

To their surprise, Gourmet Guy was back on the ground.

"Seeing as you brought me something tasty. I'm gonna tell you something that'll help you save this Star Spirit."

"Really?" Mario asked stunned.

"Yep. Now listen, the boss of us Shy Guys has this battle tank. Got very high defense, to defeat it, you'll need the help of a Li'l Sparky."

"Ok, why are you telling us this?" Luigi asked.

"Because I don't mind you guys. Those who know good food I can trust." Gourmet Guy responded.

Mario and Co. thanked the Shy Guy and went off to the Green Station.
