At the top of the fortress, Mario and Co. found a bridge that connected to the eastern tower. Mario had a feeling they were getting close.

"Be careful," Bombette warned, "Those Koopa Bros. aren't your typical Koopas. They have tricks of their very own."

Mario and the others nodded and they started to make their way across the bridge. But suddenly, the Koopa Bros. came out the opposite side with Red blocking the door.

"Well, well, well! Mario!" said Red filled with pride, "I wouldn't have believed you'd come this far."

"Yeah? Well, I wish I could say the same when you tried to stall me and my bro!" Mario replied.

"Pfft, don't get smug, pal!" Red retorted, "You and your cronies just caught us off guard!"

"Trust me, we'll mop the floor with you and your pals if we get serious! We're as cool as they come!"

Red jumped down to his brothers who were armed with Bullet Bill Blasters.

"Ready. Aim. Fire!" he commanded.

On cue, Black, Green, and Yellow began to fire Bullet Bills. The hexad was forced to retreat to the alcove below. They could see the Bullet Bills were firing at an alarming rate.

"That should hold them for a bit," said Red, "Boys, let's get ready!"

"Any ideas, guys?" Kooper asked.

"Wait, Luigi," said Goombario, "Remember those Tanooki Leaves you found earlier?"

"Yeah, why?" he asked.

"Now might be a good time to use one."

Luigi followed Goombario's advice and used a Tanooki Leaf and transformed. He went up and used the tail to knock the Bullet Bills into each other.

"How's a leaf going to work?" Bombette wondered.

"That's a Tanooki Leaf," Mario explained, "When me and my bro use one, it gives us a tail that can be used to attack and block projectiles. The cool thing about these is if we get enough speed, we can fly for a short time."

"That's pretty cool," said Kooper.

Soon, Luigi came back to Mario and the others telling them the Bullet Bill Blasters were destroyed. Now it was time to bring the fight to the Koopa Bros. The quintet hurried down the bridge and into the doorway.

Inside the east tower, the Koopa Bros. were finishing their contraption. As they heard the door open, Red motioned the other to get ready while he distracted the heroes.

"We've been expecting you all," Red said, greeting the hexad.

"Wasn't like we had much of a choice," said Kooper.

"Kooper! Seems we meet again. Even though we were once friends. I'm still disappointed in you. Betraying your fellow Koopa Troopas of Bowser."

"Look here, Red!" Bombette snapped, "I may have only known Kooper a few minutes. But I can tell he's nothing compared to you or Bowser! You can't just make us be with anyone because of our species!"

"Ha! Big talk, for a girl!" Red mocked.

"Oh that does it!" she shouted, "Enough talk! Let's do this!"

Red agreed on this and ran to his brothers. What started to look like arguing, eventually lead to a giant robot that looked like Bowser. Though it looked a little childish, with the paint job and button eyes.

"Gah ha ha ha! I've been waiting for you, Mario and Luigi!" Red yelled, impersonating Bowser's voice.

None of the heroes couldn't hold it in and they all started to laugh on the floor.
