SHAURYA'S POV

"What happened?" I asked her as she wasn't serving me channa. Her eyes wandered everywhere and she looked like she needed an excuse to make me not eat it. Why is she acting weird all of a sudden?

Does she know about my channa allergy? But none of my family members know it, except Vinay.

"Uh...I...I...really love channa a lot...and there is only a few left...so...so...can you skip channa today? For me?" She asked me still glancing all around the room and avoiding my eye contact. Why does she have to stutter in this? Her behavior is strange all of a sudden.

Vinay seem to know her today only, so he might not have said anything to her then how come she knew about my allergy? Is she really saying the truth?

Her mom started scolding her for being a foodie but my mom, as usual, saved her from the scolding.

She was trying to make eye contact with me after dinner but I don't know why, something was disturbing my mind. How did she get to know about that? Should I make a background check-up on her? Did Vinay say it to her? But I heard their conversation myself, they were just bickering and he didn't say anything about my allergy. Then how come...?

Our parents decided to have our engagement after 6 days, and our marriage will be after 2 weeks. Divya was staring at me all the while but I avoided her and kept myself busy on my mobile.

"Bye..." She said to me after getting my parent's blessings and waving at my brother, Anni, and Vinay. I just hummed in response and avoided her eye contact.

Why am I doing this?

She hopped on her bike with a blank face and after waving for one last with a forced smile, she drove off. Not before glancing at me for one last time.

I turned back to go to my room but the thing which I heard made me stop in my tracks.

"What is this Mama? You decided to marry our Shaurya with that girl??" Subramani uncle asked my dad. His voice spitted betrayal. I noticed him and his daughter throughout the time Kiara came, they were so happy when my mom announced my marriage but their smile vanished in a nanosecond when they said I am going to marry Kiara.

"Why Mapla? What's wrong with Kiara?" My dad asked him with a stern face as he hates it when someone says nonsense about his family and as far as I know him, he might've concluded Kiara as his daughter-in-law by now and she might've become a family member in our family in his heart.

"What's wrong with her? Huh. Everything is wrong with her. Did you see her way of dressing? Did you see how she drove a bike? A girl driving a bike? And that too ROYAL ENFIELD?? She looks like a total guy, and you are going to marry our precious Shaurya to her?" he was continuously speaking which was getting to irritate me now. Sushant was about to speak against him but Anni calmed him down and told him to wait. Even I was being calm as I can. My mom was throwing dead glares at him but he didn't care about anything and kept speaking.

"Did you see her parents? Their status is completely different from ours. They are middle-class people whereas we are rich. Can she buy a house without making a loan? Huh? How much did they agree to give dowry? 40 Lakh? Leave 40 lakh, maybe 4 Lakh? Can they afford that much? She is after all a psychologist. A doctor treating the mental patients but I guess she has to treat herself before treating others." He spitted venom all this while and the room was getting heated. My dad was burning anger and the same was going with me.

Calm Shaurya. Calm.

"And Did you do a background check-up on her? Her dress and her way of speaking don't look good to me. I don't think she is fit for Shaurya. My daughter is better than her in every aspect. Who knows, she might be a gold digger, and how many men she has contact with?" He said as he scoffed and that's it. I can't control it anymore.
