Peter returned the hug, ignoring the slight sting he got from his chest.

Most of everything had scarred over, excluding the recent tear-up he'd go in himself. It couldn't even be stitched up because of how rough it was, so it was taking longer to heal.

"Yeah man, you think ms Lindsey will be happy to see me?" He joked, knowing Ned also remembered the lab accident he'd had the last week he was there.

"Bro, she said she feels so bad for yelling at you" he laughed, "she acted like we were going to judge her for it or something. Granted, it was a bit excessive, but after she found out the news she became so sympathetic about you" Ned informed him.

Ned caught him up on the inner details of the drama he'd missed, the inside scoop of what he'd glazed over back at the tower. Mostly just the big breakups, the bathroom shenanigans, and what students had started fights with other students and teachers.

When they got into the classroom, it was mostly silent minus the quiet uttering of ms Lindsey as she tried to set up an educational video on the board.

They sat down quietly, continuing the conversation in the snippets of sign language they'd been learning for most of that year. Time went on before there was a sound of accomplishment as ms Lindsey finally got the audio working.

She asked someone to turn the lights off, so Peter and Ned finally stopped. Not because it was too dark, but because today was an animal dissection day, and neither of them wanted a repeat of last time.

The thought made Peter shudder.

Yes, he knew that raw meat made people very hungry when they were near it, but lunch was in two periods and turtle guts are never something someone should eat in class.

Once the video was over, they were given their instructions and sent to do the deed. Ms Lindsey wandered around the classroom, correcting mistakes as she went, and gave notes on improvement to those who had some struggle. That went by quicker than Peter thought it would, mostly because he zoned out when he and Ned weren't talking quietly.

Cleanup was even faster, and Peter had been buzzing to tell Ned what was on his mind all period. Unfortunately, they only had the last four minutes to discuss it.

"Gosh, that was disgusting" Ned commented, pulling of the gloves he had on and tossing them out.

Peter nodded, wondering how to go about this.

"So.. you know about the whole MJ dilemma I've had for so long, right?" Peter changed the subject lightning fast, hoping to speed through this before he and Ned separated.

"Yeah dude, I told you she wouldn't be weirded out by it or anything. She's a nerd like us now—"

"No! No, not that. I mean— yes that, but no that. I just.. the whole, feeling part" he tried explaining, not wanting to say anything.

"What's up?" Ned sounded confused, grabbing his bag "you saying you don't like her anymore?".

"I mean, I think so? I like her, she's crazy cool, and like super pretty, but I don't know if-" he was cut off by the bell, making his head shoot downward at the loud noise.

He felt the usual spike in his anxiety with the loud bell and unnecessarily verbally expressive teens in the hallways. Also known as Too Loud.
