"Sounds like I need to get some pointers from your uncle then" Harley suggested, his own playful smile forming.
"If you know how to talk to the dead, let me know. I haven't spoken to him in forever" Peter said lightheartedly, not wanting to feel down at the thought of such a great man.
"Darn, so you just set me up for failure then?" Harley recognized the wish of not talking about the deceased relative, continuing the smooth conversation.
"Yeah, just had to humble you down a bit so it didn't feel like I was talking to a brick wall" he joked.
Harley chuckled, looking up to the ceiling.
Peter glanced over at him cautiously, biting his nail as he did so.
Fuck.. he whispered, looking down to his paper.
Peter pulled out his phone, curious for when this damn class ended.
"Two minutes to the bell" he warned the two men at his sides, stuffing his paper and pencil in his bag.
Eugene and Flash each copied what he did, causing a dominos effect amongst the class, everyone putting away their things until all of the sounds in the classroom were just the rustling of bags and books.
Soon, the bell rang, everyone exiting the surprisingly pleasant class period in a rush.
Peter made it into the hallway, pushing past some students to rush away as fast as he could.
He caught Harley's eye as he passed.
"Hey, see you around man!" The other teen called out, waving his hand up.
Peter waved his hand back, not wanting to be rude.
Eugene joined him as he walked over to where he and Ned usually met up to get to class.
"Harley's pretty cool, huh?" He asked, slinging his backpack over his shoulder.
Peter bit his lip, nodding. He had some things to talk about with Ned.
"Also, are you sure you've got a good place to stay? I mean, you look great, I swear, I'm not saying anything about that, but it's a good place, right?" He asked, acting a bit more nosey than Peter had expected.
Peter didn't really mind, but it was a big and weird change. He still wasn't totally comfortable with it. And he wasn't sure if they were exactly.. close enough for that kind of talk yet, even if it was that way.
"Yeah, they're super cool" he stated, trying to shove down the awkwardness that wasn't there, "There's a whole bunch of people there too, that come and go a lot, so I'm not like— intruding or anything. They've also got enough food to feed me" he chuckled, referring to his speedy digestive process.
Flash looked like he took it another way, holding a look of guilt on his face.
"Glad you got yourself a good place. Mine is still open if you ever need, it's not like anyone is taking up half the rooms there anyways" he shrugged, turning a corner and waving.
Peter waved back, spotting Ned up ahead.
"Dude, I know I've seen you every day this week, but it's still crazy you're back in school already" Ned chuckled in disbelief, walking over for a hug.
