"Thank you" Peter whispered awkwardly to the blanket, unsure if it could actually hear him or not.
The fold of fabric waved it's corner piece in a way that sorta gave the vibe of 'don't worry about it' or something. That's what Peter hoped it was.
He was only in there for maybe 7 minutes, a bit long for normal, but not too bad for him skillfully calming himself down.
When he got back out, Tony's head was laying in Stephen's lap, who was petting his hai affectionately while they talked.
They seemed to talk a lot, he thought. He was used to Tony being all quiet for hours on end in the lab, along with himself. But it seemed that all and his husband ever did was talk.
Peter realized it wasn't too weird, since he was the exact same way with his friends on most days.
Curios as to what they were talking about, he might've began listening in.
"From what I can tell, he was telling the truth that whole time. He's just some guy, I know for certain he's had no training against this stuff, so once you verify that with criminal databases, I think it'll be a good time to tell Peter. At least we'd be able to show proof, and not have to worry about any negative reactions, should they come".
Peter wanted to ask, but he knew he'd probably get in trouble. He always did for May, and he knew they didn't write down everything on that list that they didn't like.
On the other hand, one thing they did tell him was to inform them what was on his mind.
He stood there a moment, thinking about what to do.
He knew may was wrong, but some things she didn't tolerate, they didn't tolerate either. Eavesdropping was a big one back home, why wouldn't it be here? Peter had to learn to just ignore things when he got his powers, but for this one, he'd willingly listened in. That was bad enough.
But if he didn't tell them, he'd be deliberately disobeying something they'd very specifically clarified.
He tapped on the wall with the pads of his fingers, now unwillingly catching snippets of the progressing conversation as he endured his debate.
"Pizza should be here soon, Abigail said she saw Frank with the pizzas outside the door"
How mad would they actually get with him?
"Oh, Frank still works here?"
He knew last time they didn't do anything, but that also could've been a warning period. Now, he knew these rules.
"He only managed to squeeze out twenty bucks, he didn't have enough money to treat his dog at the vet, he was desperate or something. I don't really care, he gets food here the fastest"
Does that mean they'd be the same as May? No. He knew that. But he also knew that there were alternatives.
"How is Abigail by the way? I haven't spoken to her in a while"
Maybe if he just ignored the thought, he wouldn't have to worry about it. Technically, it wasn't on his mind, so what could be the harm? It's not like it's a big deal, just something they were planning on telling him about someone. No biggie, right?
"Ahh, she's great. Just as coffee addicted as usual. She and her dad are on speaking terms again, she's really brightened up since then"
Yeah. No problem. Not a big deal. They were planning on telling him anyways! Nothing to be stressed about!
He chewed on his nails as he returned to the room, sitting down on the couch back into the position he was in when the first began talking, nervously crammed into the corner. The nail chewing did not stop.
Stephen noticed the change, but also recognized that while Peter wasn't in any distress while in the restroom, he was trying to calm himself down from something. Stephen opted to allow Peter his personal space for the time being, not wanting him to feel obligated into being included if he didn't want to be.
Tony got like that sometimes, and that was usually the best way they approached it. It was at least effective.
The couple continued their conversation idly, Stephen giving Peter a nod to be sure he acknowledged the kid's presence. Peter nodded back, his gaze drifting back downwards once he'd finished.
The elevator's familiar ee ee ooo ah ah, ting tang, wala bing bang alerted everyone that the pizza had arrived.
Peter's head made sure to kick it into his skull ghat this would technically be their first family dinner with him being aware of it.
He grabbed his phone as he sat down, shooting some texts to Ned and MJ about the situation, fully filling them in.
He sat down at the table with the two adults, who made sure to provide him the jesting cup of apple juice after they'd served themselves their own drinks. It was nice.
Really nice.

Another one done!
I feel we can all sense it lol, I made this story have quite a progression opening this chapter.
The end is neigh folks 😔
But not yet! I can still milk the hell out of this thing! And have fun while doing so!
I hope you all have a really good day, because honestly y'all deserve it for putting up with this book, which on average would take about 8+ hours to read according to Wattpad. If not, I'll come up with a threat in my sleep, because generally some dark things happen in there that this world does not seem ready for lol.
Love you all 💛💛💛
Sincerely, someone who is falling more and more behind in school every day they're stranded out here 🥲
