Tony released Peter's hand to reach for the cup of steaming coffee Stephen handed to him, placing the tray down on Peter's lap before grabbing his own cup of mysterious liquid.
Before taking a sip, he leaned over and held down a button, shifting Peter's bed into a sitting position to make it easier to see and eat.
So he was in a hospital bed. Looking around was the confirmation of a myth he and Ned heard of.
The tower did have a medbay!
Not the best way to find out, but he'd take it.
He snorted at the thought, leaning his head back.
The other two were curious, but didn't question it.
"Peter" Peter shifted in the bed, wriggling his arms from under the blanket, "Peter, look at me".
Peter looked up to the doctor at his side, surprised that he hardly felt any pain compared to what he should be feeling.
"Look me in the eyes, Parker" he instructed, inducing a moment of silence after Peter looked at him. He softened his gaze, "I want the best for you. Both of us do. You know that, right?"
Peter nodded, his urge to talk slipping away. He just didn't feel like replying for a while anymore.
"Good. We are going to do our best to do that. But here is where it counts for you, kid. You're going to need to trust us too. We may not know much of what to do yet, but we will work towards that. Soon, you will legally be under the care of the avengers, Tony and I, along with some others on the occasion. so let us be the heroes today. Just.. live a normal life. Stop jumping out of windows. Go to school, and don't worry about being Spiderman until what you feel right now feels unreal, as if it never happened. Got it?" Stephen's picked up Peter's drink, putting it in his hands.
Peter nodded again, accepting it.
"I want you to promise me, Peter" Stephen urged.
Peter took a sip of what he learned to be apple juice, stopping just for a moment to say, "Can't, my mouth is full" before immediately returning the cup to his lips.
Tony chuckled, shaking his head, and Stephen just looked down with a grin.
"I'm taking that as a promise, alright?" He leaned back, seemingly realizing Tony was looking at him with a shit-eating grin.
His smile returned to his neutral face, as if collecting dignity, and he took a sip of his drink, the magic blanket acting like a mother just in case he dropped it. He didn't seem to mind tho, as if this was a common habit.
About half an hour later, Peter gradually fell asleep amongst an ongoing conversation between the three of them, having finished almost all of the food Stephen provided. As he drifted out, he couldn't help but he afraid at how easily he convinced himself that he didn't care about them when he ran off, same thing in reverse.
He ignored that thought.

When he awoke, the lights coming through the window were dark again, and his two caretakers were snoring on the bed across from him.
He groaned, sitting up. The only noise he made was the crinkle of the bed sheets and his quiet breathing, being careful not to cause either of them to stir.
When he was upright, he slowly slid out of the bed. His head was still fuzzy, and he wasn't entirely paying attention to what he was doing, but all he could really think of was how cold he was. He crawled out of bed.
