Logan, Roman, and Virgil. That's how it's always been.

Throughout his life, Logan experienced a multitude of close friends and best friends. The common theme? Most of them eventually excluded Logan in favor of another friend. There was Carly in kinder who left him for Ilyana. Anthony in second grade left him for Jackson. Liam in fifth grade left him for Bridgett. Sebastian in seventh grade left him for Isabella. Brooke in ninth grade left him for Hayley.

No matter how hard he tried, he eventually fell behind.

So when he finally found two friends that hadn't left him for two years, he couldn't help becoming excited. His friendship with Roman, who hadn't yet left him for Virgil, and Virgil, who hadn't yet left him for Roman, seemed to be thriving. The three did everything together and Logan often admitted to himself that he felt loved and comfortable in the trio.

However, the inevitable exclusion happened, just as it did in ever other friendship.

It started small, so Logan wasn't too bothered. Roman and Virgil confiding in each other, the two texting frequently; no reason to be concerned. Soon, it turned into hangouts without Logan. 'It's okay,' he'd tell himself, 'We can't do everything together.'

But then they'd cut him out of the conversation, leaving the nerdy boy to sit there awkwardly while they laughed together. They'd forget information he told them on many occasions but remember one moment they both shared together, away from him.

'It's okay, you're still best friends with them, right?'

Just then, Virgil shrugged his shoulders. "Well, at least I have a best friend." He said to his and Logan's other friends; the emo then looked at Logan with a smile. "It's not you."

Logan pretended that one sentence didn't kill him, like he wasn't about to cry. He laughed it off, because Virgil laughed it off. 'He's just kidding. It's just a joke. Laugh. It's a joke.'

Logan, by himself, with no one else. That's how it's always been.
