'The Gofer Project. The last hope to save humanity from the disaster raining down from space. Burdened with this imperative project are boys and girls or exceptional talent. That is the purpose of the Gofer Project.'
That was all Shuichi and I were able to read. Kaito, Himiko, and Tenko were all telling Shuichi and I to read the rest of the paper. We tried to do that, only to find that the rest of the file was blacked out. We couldn't read any further. That didn't stop me from being concerned about what I've read thus far.
"I think Monokuma decided to give another road block," Rantaro muttered, "and that's not all I'm concerned about."
I knew what Rantaro was talking about. Maki even mentioned it as well. "Boys and girls with exceptional talent". I had a feeling that the file was talking about all seventeen of us. It mentioned talent, and chances are... it was the Ultimate Talents we had.
There were a lot of things going through my head at this point. This was all so confusing. The Gofer Project... the meteorites. The Ultimate Hunt. All of it was connected somehow.
According to Maki, this was like Noah's Arc. Noah's Arc was a ship built from Gofer wood. This ship carried Noah's family, and even animals. It was said that God gave Noah that Arc to survive a massive flood.
When Maki mentioned that the boat was made from Gofer Wood, Kaito seemed to agree. In all honesty, this was just a story from the Bible. Maki said this while biting the nail on her thumb. The name was too much of a coincidence, and that much was obvious. This seemed to be related to the stories in the Bible somehow.
There was one thing on my mind now. How was this all related to the academy? How was this related to us? None of this made any sense to me. I looked over at Rantaro, who seemed to be thinking about what was found in the lines we could read on that file.
"I'm not sure how all of this is connected to us, but I'm sure we will figure it out soon," Rantaro told everyone, "I think we need to find the Flashback Light to see if the memory we get is somehow linked to this project."
"I agree," Maki replied, "if we find the next Flashback Light, we might be able to remember something about it..."
"Now that you mention it...where is it?" Himiko asked, "it doesn't seem like it's in this lab..."
"So it must be somewhere else!" Kaito exclaimed, "we gotta go look for it first!"
"You're right..." Maki muttered, "this place is useless to us now."
I couldn't help but feel bad for Kaito when Maki said that. We were able to find one thing in his lab, but now it was suddenly useless to us. My lab was the same exact way. There were no clues leading to anything in my lab once it was found. My lab had no important things.
Kaito told Maki that he was going to pretend he didn't hear her words. He said it was because we needed to find the Flashback Light, but I sadly didn't believe that. Kaito was just trying to hide his bruised ego.
It seemed that we investigated all we could from Kaito's Ultimate Lab. I knew the Flashback Light was our only hope. I was just terrified to think about what we might remember. We haven't found the light yet, so it must be somewhere else. We only have one more place to unlock, serving that we had only one key.
I didn't want to think about anything touched by Monokuma. The Flashback Light's were made by him. I had no idea if I was being manipulated or not. We rely on these memories when we shouldn't be. That's what it felt like to me. There was no other way to restore our memories. That's why we relied on it. It was to give us a taste on what was going on in the outside world. It was giving us terrible truths that we somehow all participated in.
I was taken out of my endless stream of thoughts when I felt myself being pulled to the door. I saw Rantaro walking in front of me, pulling me along with him. It took me a few moments to register that Rantaro was holding the door open for me. I walked out of the door, Rantaro still leading in front of me.
We made our way through the hallway, everyone in our group in front of us. Tenko was still carrying Himiko, and that was seen as she started to go down the stairs. I didn't know if I could last going down these stairs. Part of me was considering jumping down to avoid the walk.
(IM SORRY FOR THAT JOKE!)
As soon as Rantaro and I stood in front of the stairs, I felt Rantaro release my hand. I felt the hand he released clutch around my torso as his other hand wrapped around my legs. With one swift motion, he lifted me up. I wrapped my arms around his neck from the shock. All Rantaro seems to do was smile in response to that.
My face was heating up. It felt like he was trying to make me flustered, when on reality, he wanted me to let him carry me down the stairs. I stayed silent as I was in his arms. Rantaro just chuckled lightly in response to that.
"I thought my princess would be tired if she had to walk down those stairs," Rantaro told me, "as her knight though, I will do the honor of carrying her past this obstacle."
I felt my face flush up even more when he said those words. He was referring to me as his princess. He always did that, as well as being my knight in shining armor. He really did feel that way to me. How could he not.
With me in his arms, Rantaro started to walk down the staircase. I could feel every step he took, as we cascaded down the staircase. From what I've seen, the floor that had Kaito's lab had to be the true too floor of the school. Since I didn't see anything from the fifth floor in that area, I could only assume that we were on the sixth floor. That had to be the highest floor.
"I'm pretty surprised you aren't struggling," Rantaro told me, "usually when I do something like this, you always want to try to get me to let you go."
'Maybe that's because you're teasing me all the time,' I thought in response to that.
In all honesty, climbing up the stairs was always worse than going down the stairs. I was too tired to even try and tell Rantaro to let me go. I knew he wasn't going to let me go, so I might as well enjoy the ride for the time being.
A few minutes passed as Rantaro took me down the stairs step by step. He was moving consistently without losing the nerve to drop me out of exhaustion. Soon enough, we actually made it down the stairs. As soon as we made it down, Rantaro slowly placed me onto my feet.
That was also when I noticed that everyone in our group was waiting for us, including Kaito who still seemed to be looking away from my line of sight. I looked up at Rantaro who seemed to be smiling lightly.
"Now that we are down the stairs, you don't have to dread going up them again," Rantaro told me.
I knew I wasn't going to have to go up these again unless I had to. I found it hard to believe that those stairs would only lead to Kaito's lab. Basically, Kaito had the lab on the highest floor of the school, which meant if he wanted to go there, he would have to climb about six floors. I don't think anyone would want to climb that many floors just to get to their lab. I was a prime example of that aspect, but if I needed to climb six floors to watch anime, I'd do so.
'So I guess I would climb these stairs if my lab was located up there...' I thought.
"Thanks, Rantaro," I told my boyfriend in response to his actions.
Everyone seemed to be waiting on Rantaro and myself, sending gazes towards all of us. I knew why they were staring at us. We needed to find the last place that was hidden from us by Monokuma. On the way up to the fifth floor, there was no areas that a key could go to. That fact was present after we unlocked Rantaro's Lab.
Because I didn't see any other area that this last key could go to, I knew where we needed to look next. We needed to look outside. I presumed that Angie was out there with Gonta. Since my group consisted of Shuichi, Kaede, Kirumi, Tenko, Himiko, Kaito, Maki, and Rantaro, I knew that Angie, Ryoma, Miu, Tsumugi, Keebo, and Gonta would be outside. That was the only lead we had, and I didn't even know if anyone we met up with on the first floor would come with us outside.
"I think the next area is outside," Kirumi stated, "whoever is heading that way should come with us."
I nodded lightly in response to that. Rantaro seemed to nod as well. Rantaro held my hand as we walked the way to the entrance hall. Chances were, Kaito and Maki at least were going to stay inside of the school. I knew Kaito didn't want to talk to me or look me in the eyes. All I had to do as of now was accept that fact.
With that, we all made our way outside, looking around. We saw nothing in the regular courtyard, but there had to be more. Chances were, we had to go beyond the courtyard. We needed to look near the area we would gather for the class trials. That much was obvious to me.
Everyone seemed to agree that was the good idea. I noticed Maki and Kaito weren't with us. I knew that they were going to be staying inside. I let out a small sigh as we made it to the area we wanted to get to.
As soon as we got to the area, I looked around, trying to find something new about the area. The breeze of the courtyard blew my hair around as I turned my head to look around. I soon looked in the direction of Miu and Keebo's lab.
There seemed to be what looked like some sort of door blended into the area of their labs. I could see a glowing blue light coming from the area. I found myself pulling Rantaro towards the area.
"Hey now, princess," Rantaro muttered, "did you find something?"
I nodded lightly in response to his words. He always found more ways to tease me when I was trying to focus. It was sweet, and I loved him for making me feel special.
We all headed to Miu and Keebo's Lab, and as soon as we got there, I noticed Gonta, Angie, Ryoma, Miu, Keebo, and Tsumugi standing in the area. I noticed Keebo hovering over a specific area. He looked like he was inspecting something, and he had a confused look on his face as he continued to stare at whatever he was looking at.
I found myself walking over to him. As soon as I did that, Keebo looked in my direction. He told me that the platform looked like a key could go into. There was only one way to find out. Without a word, I placed the key inside of the keyhole, and as soon as I did that, something starling happened.
The door started glowing even more of a shade of blue, loud noises coming from inside the door. Chances were, that door was being unlocked. I knew we were going to have to go in. Hopefully what we would find wouldn't be bad.
Hey all! It's me with another update! We saw Kaito's lab, and now we are heading into the exisal bunker! Hopefully chapter five will run as smooth as I think it will.
I'm excited to write this all, and this still is the last chapter in the game. Danganronpa chapters are long, so there will be many more chapters!
I hope you all enjoyed this update. Some things are probably weird in the writing idk why. In any case, I wish you all a happy weekend! Stay safe and happy!- yuki_no_fuyu
