G-et into God's Word

Proverbs 17:19-22

'Whoever loves a quarrel loves sin; whoever builds a high gate invites destruction. One whose heart is corrupt does not prosper; one whose tongue is perverse falls into trouble. To have a fool for a child brings grief; there is no joy for the parent of a godless fool. A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. '

R-eflect into God's Word

How has good humor helped you deal with life's challenges recently?

It's good to be with those people who have a sense of humor in every situation. They manage to make you smile even on a challenging day you experience. That's why comedy movies and sitcoms were created for those viewers to laugh at. And such a way that humor has a way to come out. A saying once said, "when you get older, your wrinkle lines are the basis of how you've been smiling in your life"

There is benefit in joyful conversation around the dinner table that was observed by C.S.Lewis. The wisdom of fostering a joyful heart is found in Proverbs 17:22 where it says, "A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." The proverbs offer this "prescription" to stimulate health and healing - allowing joy to fill out hearts, a medicine that costs little and yields great results.

We all need this biblical prescription. When we bring joy into our conversations, it can put a disagreement into perspective. It can help us to experience peace, even after a stressful test at school or a difficult day at work. Laughter among family and friends can create a safe place where we both know and feel that we're loved.

O-bey to transform

Do you need to incorporate more laughter into your life as "good medicine" for your spirit? Remember, you have encouragement from Scripture to cultivate a cheerful heart.
What does it mean for you to be filled with the joy of the Lord?

W-restle in Prayer

Almighty God, we thank You for Your love, Your goodness, and blessings. Thank You for the gift of good medicine for our hearts to be filled by You. Thank You for those people around us that bring us laughter and joy that comes only from You. We praise You and glorify Your glorious name for all the things You've done for us.
