G-et into God's Word
John 21:17-25

'The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep. Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go." Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, "Follow me!" Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?") When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?" Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?" This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true. Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.'

R-eflect into God's Word

Comparing yourself to others produces unhappiness. Someone comparing yourself to someone makes your confidence down and it cause also an unhealthy relationship.

When is the time you compared to others?

Just like those disciples of Jesus who compared themselves to each other, Jesus quickly discouraged it (22:24). Soon after the resurrection, Jesus told Peter how he would suffer for his faith. Peter turned to John and asked, "Lord, what about him?' Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is it to you? You must follow me!" (v.21:21-22).

Jesus pointed Peter to the best remedy for unhealthy comparisons. If our minds focused on Him and what He has done for us, self-focused thoughts fall gently away and we long to follow Him.

Even in this world full of competitive strains and stress, we don't need to compare ourselves to others because God already gave us His loving presence and peace. Nothing can compare with Him.

O-bey to transform

This is a good thing to ask yourselves, 'When is the time I find myself comparing to others?' Does it result in self-satisfaction and glory to God?
Think and meditate on it.
"Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Comparison is the thief of Joy."

W-restle in Prayer

When we found ourselves comparing to others, quickly stop it for our benefit and make our heart reminded that in God, we are all equal.
Ask God every day to renew our hearts and had the mindset to focused only on His loving presence and peace to avoid comparison. Our relationship with Him keeps us from making an unhealthy comparison.
