G-et into God's Word
Psalm 103:13-22
'As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules overall. Praise the Lord, you, his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you, his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the Lord, my soul.'
R-eflect into God's WordHow fast does the moment pass and snap in a minute?
Moments are precious to us. But thinking it wouldn't last a lifetime, makes our hearts sad. That's the reality of life, every moment passes and does not last. It can be forgotten. The flower blooms today and lasts for another day but wouldn't last a month and it is gone.
In Psalm 103, David penned a poetic song that praises God while also reflecting on how quickly the joyful moments of our lives pass by. David describes the flower as flourishing or thriving. It blooms swiftly, its fragrance, color, and beauty bring great joy at the moment. And even though an individual flower can be quickly forgotten - "its place remembers it no more" (v.16) - by contrast, we have the assurance that "from everlasting to everlasting, the Lord's love is with those who fear Him" (v.17).
We, like flowers, can rejoice and flourish at the moment; but we can also celebrate the truth that the moments of our lives are never truly forgotten. God holds every detail of it, and His everlasting love is with His children forever!
O-bey to transformIn what way can your flourish at the moment?
W-restle in PrayerThank You Lord for the flowers and moments we can flourish for Your name. We know it wouldn't last a lifetime but there is an assurance that You hold our lives and every detail of it is known to You.
Help us Oh Lord to flourish Your goodness to others while living in this world. Amen
