He was proud of it.
Not only did the dark case protect it, but it was see through as well. Why you may ask? Because he finished the inner screening, meaning Peter could change the AI's design to whatever he wanted, including photos.
An extra feature he added, five drone wings at the bottom, hidden from view with all the other distracting components. Once he'd finished everything else, Peter was planning to surprise Tony with the flying pyramid AI. A bit over the top.. but it was all for fun anyways.
Peter was kind of sad to give it away when it was done..
Even so, it wasn't his, and never should have been. Peter knew exactly what it was for and wasn't going to try and take stuff that wasn't his. Not a singular thing (except the screws) was his to begin with. And a few screws weren't worth the paradise away from home that Tony was giving him.
Paradise away from home?
When did he start thinking like that?
Just because he liked being out didn't mean staying home wasn't great, he lived there. It's supposed to be his safe place. When did he ever start doubting that??
May..
May was there, that's why it was safe.. so why..
Why didn't Peter feel safe?
He paused his readjusting, allowing the case to fall onto his chest.
Why didn't he feel safe?
What reason could there be that he would ever be afraid to return home? Nothing was wrong there.. he had a guardian, he had food, he had a clean home.. all of those things were normal.
Nothing was wrong..
Nothing.. had ever been wrong..
He was just being overdramatic and probably overwhelmed from exhaustion. Maybe it was how different things were? He liked it a lot better here, he had to admit. This place was like a second home. Plus, Tony understood his train of thought and everything he could ever want was right here.
Maybe the power went to his head. Getting what you want all the time can do that.. he's read about it. Getting something better makes what you had before feel inferior. His judgement was clouded and biased. Peter wasn't in the right mind to accuse himself of fear.
All of it was in his head, just like everything else. When he's sad? It's all in his head, he has no reason to be. When he's feeling anxious? It's in his head, everything is going to be fine. When he's feeling drained? All in his head, he just got up and has barley spoken to anyone. All of his problems were in his head.
How does he get them out?
"Hey, compadre, you good up there?" Tony called up to Peter, snapping him from his thoughts.
Peter nearly fell again, just barley catching the cluster of parts with his webs as his head swung off of the ceiling.
"W-what?" He asked, hanging upside down from his knees. He didn't hear what Tony said.
"You looked glum and confused, are you hungry?" Tony usually found himself needing nutrition whenever he got caught up in dark thoughts while working.
