Perhaps you were being less cautious than you should have been.

After all, it was only your third date, and here you were preparing to go to Anakin’s house for the first time.

Your best friend wasn’t exactly thrilled when you told her. She was fiercely protective, and even though she knew Anakin was a great guy, between the both of your experiences there was no way that any man could have been trusted at face value. When you insisted that Anakin was unlike anyone you had ever met, in a good way, she huffed before reminding you that you had her on speed dial and she’d be in the neighborhood should anything have happened.

Anakin wasn’t aware of your slight aversion to dating. When he first moved to town, he had been warned not to pursue you as you’d just falsely accuse him of something or ruin his life in some other way- but how could he ignore the magic of your aura whenever he was near you?

How could he not try his very best to make you his, after the way you’d make him feel with just one small smile? With a quick glance his way whenever you presumed his attention to be elsewhere? With the way his name would roll off your tongue like silk sheets against his bare skin?

He couldn’t help but rush things. It was what felt natural to him; what felt right. You were quick to become his friend, but he wanted more. He needed more.

Anakin didn’t think that inviting you to his house necessarily meant he’d receive anything further than a soft kiss on his cheek. After the last one you gave him on your second date (while stargazing and eating your favorite snack, which he didn’t particularly like until he saw the way your eyes fluttered shut in bliss whenever you put another piece in your mouth), it was all he could think about. Your glossy lips had imprinted onto his left cheek and the feeling had never left him, and even now, a week later, he could still feel the heat in that spot on his cheek while he cooked for you.

You, on the other hand, were panicking while walking up his driveway. Was he expecting you to take your relationship, if it could be called that, to the next level? What if he subtly suggested you move things up to the bedroom once you’d finished eating? What if he-

“Hey,” He greeted you with a small smile, leaning against the doorframe. Your hand was still raised in a fist as you hadn’t yet knocked, your confusion showing on your face while his smile fell. “Oh, I heard you close the gate- I wasn’t just standing at the door waiting for you, I swear-”

“Anakin,” You cut him off, laughing. “It’s fine.”

“Okay,” He breathed out, his cheeks tinging pink before he stepped back. “Please, come in.”

You complied, slowly stepping into his warm house. It was cleaner than you expected, with artistic décor and well-picked furniture that complimented the color of the walls. “Nice place,” You commented, looking around before you faced him.

“You look gorgeous,” Anakin said, taking in the sight of you. He couldn’t believe you were in his house, standing in a spot where nothing as beautiful as you ever had or ever would stand, and it would now be permanently marked as yours.
