Eros followed his wife for days. When she fell into dead slumber out of exhaustion, he cocooned her in his warm embrace and great wings. When she woke up, food was already made available for her, and more than enough for her to take with her on her journey. Believing that her fortunes were turning, and that the Fates were finally smiling down upon her, she was filled with steeled determination that she was on the right path.

Close on her tail, Eros questioned himself as to which of his mother's temple that his wife was heading to. But when they turned southwards after Argos, he had an inkling.

When they finally entered the coastal town of Boiai, Eros already had no doubt to where his wife was heading to. Psykhe walked straight to the docks in the Boeatic Gulf. Lewd calls and lascivious stares followed her, but she ignored them. She found a ferryman, tying up his reed papyrella to the piling. Psykhe approached the big man slowly.

"Excuse me, sir. I need a boat to Kythira, please," she asked softly, praying to the gods that this man was an honest one.

"Three oboloi," he grunted, the sinister smile on his face made her skin crawl.

"Very well. Now. Please?" Psykhe added, while rubbing on the prickly skin on her arm.

"I'm on my break. But if you insist on right now, it will cost you a tetradakhmon," the ferryman replied, his dangerous smile still on his face. Psykhe gasped, Eros was seething silently.
