Persephone looked at her reflection in her copper mirror, her expert hands braided her hair skilfully. She turned to smile to Adonis, who was lounging lazily on the golden bed. "In just a few moments, we'll be home, goddess," Adonis said brightly, "Yes," Persephone replied with a feigned bright smile.

Home, she sighed heavily. I am home

As she turned back to face the mirror, she saw Hades in the reflection. She gasped aloud and turned to face him, and he emerged from the shadows. Adonis got up fast to move towards Persephone, but with a wave of Hades' hand, he was flashed out of the bedchambers.

"Bring him back!" Persephone shouted, Hades just moved towards her silently. "Stop!" she cried, and Hades stopped in his tracks.

"Don't end this. Please, Persephone," Hades pleaded desperately, his hands reached out for her. She stepped backwards in panic, shaking her head.

"You mean nothing to me," she spat, her beautiful face scrunched up in disgust.

"I'm your husband!" Hades thundered.

"Our hieros gamos can't be undone, but my love for you is no more," she said, her emerald eyes boring into his icy blue-grey eyes.

"Persephone," he whispered dejectedly, as his whole world came crashing down on him.
