Hello again - Klaus

You run into each other again after not seeing each other for years.

I was sitting in our local cafe with my two beautiful twin girls Mollie and Maisie as I wanted to take them out for lunch whilst we wait for their father, my husband, to finish shooting his scenes for the day. As we were waiting for out food the kind waitress, who had made sure to give us a private table because she recognised who I was, gave them some colouring to do whilst we wait. As I was watching their concentrated faces my mind couldn't help but wonder back to someone who I haven't thought about for years, someone's who's heart I broke so much I hope to god someone else has mended.

Watching their determination to stay within the lines reminds me to when he was painting how is eye brows would furrow, he would stick his tongue out sometimes, how when he was painting to rest of the world would be obsolete. He put so much care and attention into his art and when it was finished he looked at it like it was his child, so proud. So much love. That I ruined and could not give back. Every time I thought of him I get a sinking feeling in my stomach and the guilt takes over my whole body

"Mummy look" Maisie says taking me out of my days and I look down at her little face and I take the piece of paper out of her hand and look down at it smiling
"It's beautiful sweetie, I love all of the colours" I say and she takes it back
"I'm not finished" she says taking it back and picking up the crayons again and I laugh stroking her head
"How about you Mol?" I say and she replies
"Good" she replies and I can't tell she doesn't want to be bothers so I leave it. As I reach for my coffee my eyes land on the bracelet I am wearing and it is the one thing I wear everyday that was from him.

I was lost in thought again when the waitress came with our food so I got up and tidied away everything as the food was set down on the table, as I was putting the napkins on them the waitress says

"Miss?" I look up at her to let her know I am listening as I finish sorting out the girls "there is another group who have reserved a more private table and they have arrived so I just wanted to let you know" she says and I smile
"Thank you and it's alright, my husband should be finishing soon anyway" I say and she smiles walking away. I start of my main course and a little but later I hear he noise of people coming in the room so I know it's the party the waitress was talking about. I didn't think twice until I recognise the voice of the man who I cheated on. I keep to myself and try to ignore my heart beating at a million miles an hour, since I was so lost in thought I didn't realise Maisie was struggling with her food and she spills some On herself and started crying bringing me out of my daze. I stand up and clean her up whilst she is still crying because she thinks she is in trouble
"I'm sorry mummy" she says through her tears and I shush her lifting her into my arms
"It's ok darling it was an accident" I say standing up and rocking her slightly and when I look back up and I make eye contact with Klaus
"I always knew you would be a great mother" he says smiling slightly and I smile back not really knowing what to say
"Hello again" I reply to him looking back down to see her sniffling
"How have you been?" He says standing up and walking over
"I have been good thank you as you can see I am a mother" I say laughing slightly and he smiles at her
"What are their names?" He asks and I say
"That is Mollie there and in my arms is Maisie" he waves at her and she giggles
"I see they take after their mother" he says then he asks pointing to the rings "where's the father?"
"He is working just now but he should be hear any moment" I say avoiding eye contact and I put her back down to finish her food
"Is he?" He says knowing what I meant and I nodded
"Nik I am so sorry for what I did" I say and he shakes his head
"Love it's ok I understand, you didn't feel that way for me anymore, plus I am also a father now" he says and I smile
"Oh wow that's amazing what's their name?" I say and he smiles
"Hope" he says smiling to himself which makes me really happy, we look at each other for a moment in silence.  Which felt oddly comfortable
"I've missed having you around" he says and I open my mouth to reply but get interrupted by Mollie shouting
"Daddy!!" And I turn to see my husband being attacked by our very excited daughters which makes me smiles
"Hi my Gorgeous girls!" He says lifting them up making them giggle and squeal as he walks over and sets them back in your chair "now be good and finish your dinner" which they do instantly. He turns to me smiling and they way he looks at me makes me feel like a nervous teenager around her first love. He makes me feel relaxed and at ease and like I am truly cared for, I quickly give him a kiss and wrap my arm around his waist and say
"This is an old friend of mine, Klaus Mikaelson, klaus this is my husband Oscar" i say and they shake hands
"Pleasure to meet you" oscar says smiling and klaus replies
"You too and I wanted to say I loved your work" he says and Oscar smiles
"Thank you very much man that means a lot" he says then he turns to me "we should get going if we want to drop the girls off an make our reservation" he says and he turns picking up Mollie "ready to go to Uncle Marks?" He says and she nods ecstatically and I pick up her sister and I turn back to Klaus
"It was nice seeing you" I say smiling sadly and following my husband as I reach the door I steal one last glance of Klaus and he was already looking back at me. I smile at then walk away.
