Kol keeps pushing you away to "protect" you and you move on without telling him.

I was sitting in my living room with Caroline just having a catch up because I have been so busy with work and since I went straight from med school to the hospital I have hardly any time to see anyone. All of us had arranged to meet in the park to have a picnic but Caroline wanted to see me first before we meet the others. She was updating me on everything from supernatural to who's with who, you name it we talked about it. I had just taken a sip of my coffee when the sore subject of my dead love life came up
"So How are you and Kol dealing with your busy schedule" she asks and I put my mug down and say
"What is there to deal with when he is pushing me away? He says its to protect me but what is there to be protected from at the moment" I say and she sadly smiles at me
"But what about when they leave?" She says and I look at her confused
"What are you on about?" I say and I can see her change in expression, her eyes are now filled with sympathy
"He hasn't told you?" I shake my head leaning back I nod for her to go on "they are heading to New Orleans and they aren't coming back" she says and I nod turning away from her
"Sounds about right" I say and I look at my mug " I should probably go talk to him" I say and she nods in agreement.

We both decided to pop in to the mansion quickly before meeting the others, as we pull up I sigh
"You want me to come?" She asks and I smile
"No I wouldn't put you through that" we both laugh knowing what would happen if her and Nik were in the same room. I walk up to the door and knowing it isn't locked and when I walk in the house and I look to see Elijah, Nik and Bekah we're sitting in the lounge
"Y/n? What to we owe the pleasure?" Elijah says and Bekah says
"Not that I don't love you but Kol isn't here" I smile at her and say
"I'm not here for him and to be honest it will be easier now" I say and they look confused and I say "I am just dropping by to wish you guys luck in New Orleans and hope you concur it" I say smiling and Bekah says
"Did he tell you?" I laugh and say
"No, Caroline did. I can't remember the last time me and Kol had a conversation" I say and I turn to leave but get engulfed in hug from Bekah.
"I'm so sorry we didn't tell you, I'm gonna miss you so much" she says and I pull back
"Me too" I say and I hug the other two
"I'm sorry love" Nik says and I walk away
"Don't be" I say walking out. As I was about to reach the car I see him coming up the drive way, he makes eye contact with me.

"Love what are you doing here?" He says coming right up to me I smile
"I was wishing you guys good luck for New Orleans" I say and I see his face falter and the look of guilt take over, I sadly smile at him "were you ever going to tell me or just leave without saying goodbye" I ask and he looks down. Tears well up in my eyes because I knew I am in love with him but I knew I couldn't do this anymore. What also hurt more is I knew he felt the same but he was scared. I bring my hand up to his face so he looks at me, I stroke his face gently and say
"Goodbye Kol" I kiss his check get in the car and Caroline drives away.

A year later

I woke up to the sun creeping through my curtains this makes groan sitting up and stretching. I sigh and get up out of bed and head towards the kitchen to make myself a lovely breakfast. My bedroom is on the top floor a long with my movie and game room and my kitchen in on the bottom floor so I am walking down my stairs when I start to hear voices, I pause for a moment trying to think is there anything I could use as a weapon. I looked around in frantically hoping for something to appear when I remember Ty left one of his bats here so I continue down the stairs and make a quick detour to my door and pick up the head towards the voices and realise they were coming from the kitchen so I walk slowly until I can hear clearly what the voices are saying but I recognise them immediately. So I speed up and when I enter the kitchen I see Stefan, Damon and Tyler standing in my kitchen eating and drinking, i put a hand in my hip and stare at them all
"Morning Y/n, what's with the bat?" Damon's says and I put the bat by the kitchen door and lean it there
"Why are you guys here in my house eating my food?" I say groaning sitting on one of the stools by my island "You all Have houses, it's early and my first full day off in ages I really didn't need to be scared half to death" I say putting my head on my arms toppings
"I wanted to cook you a nice surprise breakfast because I knew it was your first day off and you deserve a break" he says and I sit up as he places a fresh cup of coffee and freshly made waffles with my favourite toppings. I look at it them back up to him smiling
"Thank you baby" I say and he leans down and we share a kiss, I was enjoying it until we were interrupted by a cough, I pull away and flip them off
"They wanted to come as well mostly for the food" Tyler says and I smile and Damon feigns hurt
"How dare you suggest such a thing wolf boy" he says standing up and giving me hug "can't I come spend time with my best friend y/n?" I smile and hug him back
"Thank you Damon, and you Stefan" I say. I was about to take a sip of my coffee when my phone starts to ring, I pick it up to see Caroline and I groan
"Caroline?" Stefan says smirking and I nod.
"I didn't even want a big party" I say the I pick up the phone and leave the room.
"How does she have so much money again?" Damon says and Stefan and Tyler stare at him
"Her uncle is Robert Downey Jr and she also works insanely hard" Stefan says and he goes
"Ahhhhhh" Damon says as Tyler gets a text
"Yes!" He shouts and the other two jump
"What's happened?" Stefan says and Tyler can't stop smiling
"I ordered some jewellery for her and it's ready to be picked up finally" he says standing up. "I can't wait to see her face" he says am he turns to the brothers. "I'm going to go pick it up see you guys later" he says running out my house. Damon turns to his brother and says
"How are we going to top that?" Stefan shakes his head and stands up walking out of the house Damon following in suit "what?" He says again being ignored.
