The Potter family got their biggest shock ever the day the Hogwarts letters arrived.
"Sirius!" said James.
"What?" said Sirius absent-mindedly.
"Look!" He held out something under Sirius' nose.
"Head Boy—seriously?" asked Sirius, looking stunned. "You—Head Boy? They must've meant to send it to Moony!"
"Yeah, that's what I thought. But there is a letter too—and it has my name on it!"
The two of them stared at each other in consternation.
"It's not right," said Sirius at last. "A Prefect is bad enough—but Head Boy!"
James' mother was thrilled. James' father was grinning too, but there was an amused twinkle in his eyes. However, James and Sirius saw this as nothing short of a disaster.
That is, until Remus' letter arrived two days later.
"Lily is Head Girl," whispered James in a thrilled voice.
Sirius rolled his eyes.
"PADFOOT!" yelled James. "Me and Lily—we are Heads together!!"
"So?"
"What d'you mean—so?"
"Lily is a git."
"She's not."
"Yeah, right."
