1st September, 1974
"REMUS! PETER!" Sirius and James ran towards their friends, yelling, meeting after two months.
Inside the train, Peter took out a new set of Gobstones he had got in the holidays.
"Put that away, Peter," said James. "We'll work on our potion." He glanced at the scars on Remus' arm and one on his cheek. It had been full moon two nights ago.
Remus went red. "You can play that if you want to, James."
"We don't," said Sirius, taking the cauldron from James. "Hand over the book, James."
They gave the finishing touches to the potion through the train journey, locking their compartment door first.
"So we brew it overnight and drink it," said James as he put on the lid again.
They had nearly reached Hogwarts.
"The next step is ridiculous!" cried Sirius suddenly. "Look—move about with a Mandrake leaf in our mouth—for a month."
"Is that even possible?" asked Peter.
"It must be," retorted James. "We're not the first person becoming Animagi, are we?"
"Right. We will do it," said Sirius, punching Remus on the arm. "I have a strong feeling that we'll become Animagi by the end of this year."
