Chapter 92 - RE History

Time: 7:40 AM (Wednesday)

Warning: The next chapters contain history and explanation of the RE Virus and Doctor RE. Walang love scenes kaya medyo boring sa mga mahilig sa steamy scenes dyan. English galore kasi POV ni Herschel.

Based on my mother's reaction, dad and General Regalado are being held as captives in Aquinas Island. Kung tama ang theory ni Captain Phillip, Doctor RE is also there. It is understandable that the general will order a mass evacuation if the Resident Evil doctor is on that island.

The only question is why...

Why is he there? Why is he keeping my father, the general and even Harold as his hostages?

Binuksan ni mommy ang laptop niya at pinakita ang map ng Aldridge City. I noticed that there are scattered red dots on the map.

"Son, before the second zombie war started, Aquinas Island was all geared up to face this next battle. The Research and Development Team is well aware that it is only a matter time before the commencement of the new zombie apocalypse. Kahit ang mga tao sa Aldridge City ay alam ang mga basic na gagawin in case of any catastrophe. They all know the next step, to move west and go to Aquinas Island," panimula ni mommy.

"Ano po yung mga red spots sa map?" tanong ni Sienna kay mommy.

Sienna is not aware of the emergency plan that was laid out a few years ago by the Aldridge City government as she is staying in Western Australia for more than four years.

"Shen, those are the highest buildings and points in the city. In case hindi makakapunta ang mga tao sa Saint Thomas Port, they are advised to go to these buildings and a military chopper will pick them up," sagot ni mommy sa kanya.

Alam ko ang detailed ang evacuation plan sa Aldridge City. Even though the military did not inform our residents that there will be a new zombie apocalypse, they were all ready for any cataclysm.

"Che, though alam namin na mas improved ang RE Virus, we are still hoping for the best, . If you noticed, we still have zombies right now and we think they are here to stay unless we demolish them one by one."

"Mommy, what happened to the emergency plan? We fully polished it but it seems like konti lang ang survivors. We saw a video feed from the Central Business District. Hundreds of people turned into zombies in less than hour. Anong naging problema? May sabotage ba na naganap?"

Sabotage. That is the only explanation kung bakit nahirapan ang military ng Aquinas Island sa evacuation. Doctor RE seems to harbor some grudge  particularly sa Aquinas Island military team. May tinatagong poot si Doctor RE sa Aldridge City.

"You are right, Che. Our emergency strategy is supposed to be highly effective. There is a greater chance of survival now as we have planned for the worst case scenario. However, the RE Virus is not only powerful, but very brilliant."

"Mommy, what do you mean brilliant? It is like you are admiring its complexities?"

"Son, don't get me wrong. I am admiring the brain behind this virus. Alam ko na we are dealing with a lethal monstrosity. As a scientist, I can't help but to acclaim the superiority of RE Virus," sabi ni mommy.

Pinakita niya sa amin ni Sienna ang isa pang map ng Aldridge City kung saan may mga green spots naman. Kung tama ako, these are the existing livestock and poultry farms sa Aldridge City.

"This chaos started with an normal Avian Flu that cannot affect humans. It is not deadly as the only known symptom from our feathered friends are their bloodshot eyes. Disease control division disregarded this virus and is deemed harmless."

"Just like my theory?"

While working in Aquinas Island as part time workers, Kio, JC and even Harold are working with me sa possibility ng new zombie apocalypse. The four of us prepared for this next of chaotic wave.

Tinuruan ko silang apat para maging mahusay na marksman. We practiced Mixed Martial Arts during our free time to increase our speed and stamina. JC purchased his zombie-ready van at ako naman ay binili ko ang yacht. Kahit si Kio ay naging athletic in preparation for this doomsday.

My first theory is using the Avian Flu to spread the RE Virus. I guess tama ang theory ko, but I was not able to predict its time frame.

"Yes, son, exactly like your theory. Hindi lang namin sinabi sayo ng daddy mo dahil pumunta ka sa Perth with Sienna, but we actually escalated the possibility of a new zombie apocalypse using this current strain of Avian Flu. Your father personally forwarded this idea to the international disease control center. For weeks, they observed the workers exposed to this virus, but they got nothing."

"Nothing? As in walang signs ng virus transfer sa tao? Have they tried any medical tests?"

"They tried several viral tests and they can't detect any virus from the subjects. There are no apparent symptoms observed. After a few weeks, the disease center concluded that this is just a normal Avian virus that cannot be transferred to human."

Kaya pala sinasabi ni mommy na brilliant ang virus. It cannot be detected by any viral test...

"And that is exactly the plan of Doctor RE all along. Tama ba mommy? He wants to hide the existence of RE virus until he decided to reveal it in his preferred time. What an evil genius!"

Tumango lang si mommy. Obvious ang pagkalungkot sa mga mata niya. Kahit si Sienna ay nag-aalala na din sa mommy ko. Kakaiba ang kinikilos niya.

"Che, RE Virus is an invisible and undetectable virus that will activate only in a specific time. Only a genius can make such feat," sabi ni mommy.

"Three months exactly after the RE virus was released?"

Tumango lang uli si mommy. Unlike my dad who is an engineer and physicist, my mother was a doctor of medicine. Her forte is with infectious diseases caused by bacteria and virus. She just shifted to engineering to be with my dad.

"The RE virus right now is very potent. It can be transferred using a single bite, parang rabies. Unlike noon na nag weweaken ang mga zombies, ngayon hindi na. Hindi na sila namamatay unless you blow up their brains."

"But mom, you are forgetting something, where is daddy? Bakit niya kasama si General Regalado?"

"Doctor RE is in Aquinas island. Phillip is right, your father and Jorge is being held as captives."

"But why? Anong kailangan ni Doctor RE kay daddy?

"Doctor RE does not need your dad, ako ang kailangan niya..."
