Chapter 76 - Sabotage

Time: 11:00 PM (Monday)

Sa pagkakaalam ko, secured ang facilities ng Aquinas Island. Kung tama ang sinabi ni Harold kay Kio, possible nga na sabotage ang nangyari. I need to talk to my father as soon as I can. He told me that if a second zombie war will happen, he thinks that Aquinas Island will be paralyzed. He did not tell me the exact reason, pero alam ko na may mga theories na tumatakbo sa utak niya.

"Gusto ko ng cake at donuts..." mahinang sabi ni Sienna habang nakayakap sa akin.

She is clearly sleep talking. Tulog na din si Sav at si JC, pero si Kio ay nakaharap pa din sa laptop. Bumangon ako sa kama at tinapik ang balikat niya.

"Beshie, magpahinga ka na. Tumabi ka kay Sienna matulog. I will check the security cam feeds for you."

"I am fine, Che. Hindi pa ako inaantok."

"Care to share your thoughts? Magkaka wrinkles ka niyan bes," biro ko sa kanya.

"Che, may theory ka ba kung nasaan si Doctor RE?"

"Ang Resident Evil doctor na may pakana ng zombie apocalypse na ito? His headquarters is probably in Eastern Europe tulad nung nasa report. Why did you ask about him?"

"Harold and I can't help but to think that Doctor Resident Evil is related to someone in Aquinas Island. With the recent sabotage, hindi ko maiwasan na mag conclude that someone from the military is working for him."

I am exactly thinking the same thing, pero ayoko lang mag panic sila, specially Sienna...

"We talked about this, Kio. Kahit si General Regalado ay may same theory tungkol kay Doctor RE kaya naging paranoid siya specially sa mga scientists na may connection sa biological warfare. My father confirmed that there are no traitor among them and I trust his judgement. Pamilya ang turing niya sa mga scientists na nasa Research and Development Team."

"Agree naman ako sa daddy mo, Che. Kahit kami ni Harold, we thoroughly checked your father's employees. Walang fishy sa kanila. I even hacked their psych records. Wala sa kanilang may tendency na mag manufacture ng isang killer virus."

"But I can also feel that my father is hiding something from me. Kaya gusto ko makausap ang daddy ng personal."

"Hindi ko alam kung anong iisipin. Maraming casualty sa military natin. Three fourth of our city's population are now walkers. Che, Aldridge City is asecured city. Dapat tayo ang least na affected ng zombie virus. This is wrong in so many levels! Naloloka na ako!"

"Kio, let us take one day at a time. Ang priority natin ay makapunta sa yacht ko. Once na safe na ang Aquinas Island, I can talk to my father about this certain Doctor Resident Evil. I think meron siyang mga bagay na hindi sinasabi sa akin."

"Harold is working on something. He will let me know kung anong nalaman niya. Matutulog muna ko, Che. Ikaw muna ang bahala. Ok lang naman siguro na yakapin ko yung girlfriend mo pagtulog, di ba? Girls naman kami pareho?"

"I am fine with that. Alam ko naman na hindi mo type si Sienna," biro ko sa kanya.

"You really like my beshie huh?" tanong ni Kio sabay tingin sa babaeng nakabuka ang bibig habang natutulog.

"Kio, I don't just like her, I love her. When this hell ends, I want to spend the rest of my life with her."

"You can be assured that my beshie loves you too," sabi ni Kio sabay tapik sa likod ko.

Humiga siya katabi ni Sienna para matulog. It is already past midnight at alam ko din na pagod na siya.

Since may internet connection na si Kio, I tried to check if I can access my drones remotely na naka standby sa yacht ko. Kahit gabi, its cameras are equipped with sensor at night vision. With a few hocus pocus, I was able to gain access to the operating systems of my drone units using the wireless connection.

I used one of the smallest stealth drone na kasing laki lang ng kamao ko. These are solar powered drones that can function and stay airborne for almost a year without charging.

From the marina port, mabilis na nag travel ang drone papunta sa location ng Redwood Forest kung saan nakatayo ang Crimson Hotel. Tulad ng inaasahan namin, this is already occupied by BVG. Nasa may garden sila sa tabi ng poolside at nag-iinuman.

I positioned the drone sa isang part ng wall kung saan may perfect perspective ng entrance gate ng hotel. We can observe this nasty gang at the comfort of this room.

"Gusto ko ng cake..." bulong ni Sienna sa tenga ko.

Di ko namalayan na gising na pala siya at nakatayo sa likuran ko. Ilang oras na din ako nakaharap sa computer at hindi ko na rin napansin na umaga na pala.

"Sienna, wala akong cake dito. Jumbo hotdog gusto mo?"

"Pwede din..." mahinang sagot niya sabay yakap sa akin habang nasa likod ko siya.

"I activated some of my drones. Pwede na natin gamitin yung First Avenue para marating yung marina port. Ang karamihan ng zombies ay nasa Saint Thomas Port at sa Central Business District."

"Herchel, tignan mo yung likod ng emergency exit. May ilang kotse na nakaparked. Pwede kaya natin gamitin yan?" tanong ni Sienna habang nakaturo sa monitor screen.

"May kotse sa parking lot ng The Glaze, pero mas ayos gamitin yung mga nasa likod para walang makakita sa atin. Kapag maliwanag na, I will check it later with JC. Matulog ka muna, maagap pa."

"Sasamahan kita. Partners in crime tayo," sabi ni Sienna at umupo sa swivel chair na katabi ko.

Sumandal siya sa balikat ko habang nakatingin sa monitor. Akala ko, sasamahan nga niya ako, pero ilang minuto pa lang ang lumilipas ay humihilik na naman siya...
