At least act like it

I thought that the more we planned, the easier it would be to see it all come together. No, I didn't expect a forced wedding between two purebloods to seem easy, but I thought some parts would be easier, besides just the food. It was now December and we can't even pick a date.

"Sirius, we can pick anything between July and December of next year. What time of year do you want the wedding. Also, remember that the time of year also depends on the honeymoon we will have." I informed him as I was looking over dresses.

Sirius wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on my shoulder, "You might call me crazy, but I was thinking December. It would be a year from now, so it would give us more time to plan and enjoy being engaged after school. Honeymoon options are limited, but if we went to Australia the seasons are flipped there."

I turned my head to face him, "A winter wedding. Seems very fitting, but that means we will have an indoor wedding. Which also means finding a place that fits everyone and finding a dress that is weather appropriate."

Sirius leaned back, releasing me from his grip, "If you want the wedding sooner then do that. I know my opinion won't matter in the end. You need a date that fits everything you want, so you pick the date."

I got up from the ground and sat on the couch with him. The blazing fire making our skin warn, "Sirius, a winter wedding is just as wonderful as a summer, autumn, or spring. Yes, things will have to change, but even if we picked a summer wedding, my dress will still have to be weather appropriate."

Sirius got up from the couch, "I don't care, Monroe. Do whatever makes you happy. As long as the day is magical for you, then that's all that matters to me. I just want to you be sure of it."

I pulled on his hand, before he walked away, "What is that supposed to mean, Sirius? Of course I want this." I got up to stand in front of him, "If I didn't want this, then I wouldn't be here. Do you even want this?"

"Of course I do, Monroe!"

"Then start acting like it." I snapped, "You and I have to work on these things together. Your opinion does matter, because it matters to me. I want you just as happy as you want me. I want this day to be memorial, so we can tell our kids."

Sirius looked at the fire, "You want me to act like I want something I didn't ask for." He said quietly. "Of course I want to marry you, but I never asked for an arranged marriage. You signed us up for this when you know damn well, Reg and I are fine without our parents money. We are fine without having parents, money, fame, we don't need any of it."

"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked.

Sirius met my eyes, "It means that there were ways to avoid this and we all could have been happier. Regulus and I are thankful for what you did, but you never had to do it. You blame us for you having to birth heirs and claim to be the Black family savior, but no one asked you to save us! Maybe that stupid family should have their demise."

Sirius pulled away from me and started walking to the stairs, "You knew my family, but you will never know what it's like being birthed into it. No every family needs to be saved, Monroe. Not everyone wants still wants to please their family."

I watched as Sirius walked up the stairs to the dorms. The other Marauders were coming down to see what the noise was about, but they already knew. I rolled up the wedding plans and threw them into the fire. We can restart for the sixth time another day.

James tried to speak, but I left the common room before he could. He called after me, but I ignored every call. Sirius was right. I hated pureblood ways, but all I will do is give the Black family more power. They will see me as a savior.
