Making it to King's place fifteen minutes after her expected arrival, Renae nervously stood outside of the door trying to force herself to knock. Her nerves were all over the place and she had no idea as to why she had butterflies as if she hadn't known this man for a quarter of her life. Maybe it was the fact that they recently just started communicating or maybe it was the fact that she was starting to let things go. The pain often crept upon her during the night as did the anger but she's been trying to ignore it and let things go.

They've spent five years apart but in a matter of two and a half months, King managed to melt the ice from her once frozen heart. Part of her wanted to fight it and just move on with Trent, but the frequent gnawing voice in her head kept screaming at her not to. But if she wanted to be happy or at least feel happy, wouldn't moving on be the best thing to do? She and King went from being so in love to becoming dangerously toxic and bad for each other. Over the course of one simple year, their lives changed for the worst and Renae wasn't sure if she could ever forget.

But despite the bad, they had some good... a ton of good.

Shaking the thoughts off, Renae went ahead and knocked softly then tightened her coat around her as the wind blew. Looking around the dark neighborhood, Renae knocked again then tried her luck and twisted the doorknob. To her surprise, it was unlocked. Knowing that King had done it, she stepped inside the dark house and hugged herself as a chill ran up her spine.

"Lord, it's cold," she whispered, removing her shoes before she made her way through the dark house searching for King.

Hearing music playing lowly in the back, Renae followed the tune until she was standing outside of King's mancave. Closing her eyes, she knocked then slid her hands into her pockets and stepped back. Mentally preparing herself for the worst, she heard footsteps and became nervous as her heart felt as if it were trying to leap out of her chest. Was that even nervousness or excitement? Why the hell was her heart excited?

When King pulled the door open, Renae's breathing stiffened as she stared into his red, teary eyes; he'd been crying.

"My bad," King cleared his throat and looked away from her worried gaze as he stepped back.

Entering the room, Renae removed her coat and just followed him with her eyes as he walked back to the bar and picked up his empty glass.

Damn, King, she sighed, slowly making her way over toward him.

Sitting next to him, she propped her hands under her chin and twirled in the chair in deep thought as King grabbed the bottle and went to pour himself another drink as Taste So Good by Next began to play. Renae wasn't sure if she should speak or wait until he initiated the conversation but all she knew was that she felt sorry for him.

Oh, baby whatcha doing?
Got me feining like this.
I want to go to your valley,
I want to taste your lips, oh yeah.
Never understood it.
All my homies say: "don't do it."
But baby when I tried it,
Girl, I couldn't help but like it.
You taste so good,
Baby, you taste so good.
You know you do, girl,
You taste so good.

From the songs of choice, it was clear to Renae that King's mental state may have been sexual right about now and she was a little apprehensive about being in his presence. Just sitting there as time seemed to progress, Renae silently watched as King fought to stop himself from drinking any more as the tears streamed down his face. He hadn't uttered so much of a word to her and she was starting to wonder if he ever would.
