Once I entered the house, I dropped my bag and pulled out my phone. Then I strolled to the kitchen to greet my mom who is cooking pasta for dinner.
"Hey, mom." I greeted my mom with raven hair and grey eyes turned to me with a sweet smile.
"Hi sweetie, how was school?" She asked as I shrugged my shoulders.
"Meh it's was good, but I'm so stoked for school to be over." I chirped plastering a smile and keep my head up high like I usually do try not to think about my now ex-boyfriend. My mother giggled.
"Oh I bet, you've just been exhausted from that hard work. Here, have some chocolate chip cookies that I baked for you." She suggested.
"Aww, nice!" I marveled as I dash to the table and sat down to grab a piece of cookie.
"How was work mom?" I asked while munching a cookie as my mom rolled her eyes.
"Ugh tiring as ever. You know, harvesting plants all day and afternoon." She groaned and I giggled.
"Yeah I don't blame you, being a florist from the flower shop seems like a hassle," I said and my mom shrugged her shoulders.
"Meh. You know how stores are, busy and bustling just like the town of Belle Haven." She reassured me as my mom turned off the stove.
"Especially when your grandparents used to work as a florist and a gardener back when they were young." She told her as my mom placed the pot in the sink next to the strainer.
"But you gotta admit. Both grandma and grandpa are great with gardens and wonderful people in our family." I pointed out.
"Don't forget that you inherited your grandmother's love of singing." My mom added and wipes the sweat off her forehead.
"She was one heck of a singer compared to me. I suck at singing." She admitted and whipped her head at me.
"So tell me, Gloriane, how was Marc doing?" I froze when my mom asked me about my ex-boyfriend and I stare down at the glass table.
"He's...fine, but we're not together anymore." I awkwardly told her causing her to stop stirring the pasta and glance at me with a shocked expression.
"What?" My mom uttered staring at me with shock.
Soon my dad entered the kitchen from upstairs who is probably sweating from all the boxing exercises that he's been doing with a water bottle in his hand.
"Hey Fran, so what's-"
He soon paused and dropped his bottled water when he witnessed me sitting on the table where I am on the verge of crying not caring if the mascara that I'm wearing is dripping down to my cheeks. Out of the blue, my dad grabbed a baseball bat next to the fireplace and swatted down against his hand like he's going to kill somebody with it.
"Alright, who's the wise guy that hurt my baby girl, eh?!" My dad threatened.
"Boi didn't I tell you to put the bat down?!" My mom bellowed.
"But-!"
"Brent put the bat down and sit down so you can understand why she's upset." She menacingly demanded causing him to flinched and throw the bat to the floor. Then he scurried to the table and sat in front of us.
"Tell me Glory, tell me who or what made you this upset?" He asked curiously with worried eyes. I stare down at the floor while twiddling my thumbs.
"Well...."
Soon after I took a minute to breathe, I told my parents everything that happened between me and Marc just now. My mother's reactions were shocked but more subtle way. My mom always sees him as a good person and has given him respect, but now it just shatters right in front of her. My dad was just as shocked as my mom and well....he didn't take the news so lightly.
"So that rich bastard cheated on you with some girl?! What nerve! I would've knocked him out if I were to see him!" He ranted while clenching his fists, but my mom lays a hand on his shoulder.
"Calm down, Brent. I know how much you're angry as much as I do." She reassured while stroking his shoulder before letting out a sigh.
"Still. I can't believe he would do something like this, I've always seen him as a kindhearted and well-mannered boy. Did it just happened today?" She asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, and I won't be talking to him anymore because I blocked him," I explained as I can feel the tears and watery mascara dripping down on my cheeks. My mom then gave me another tissue and I accepted her offer.
"Thanks." I thanked her as I took a light dab on my eyelids to my wet cheeks, and blow my nose afterward while my mom is caressing my back.
"Don't cry dear, no need to feel bad. I know what it's like to have you heartbroken. I used to have a boyfriend that cheated on me back in high school. I was so angry that he would do this to me, so I decided to cut him off because he's not worthy of my time. I took my time to recover from the breakup with help from your grandparents. Right after I graduated from high school, I attend the best college in Belle Haven and that's when I met your hardheaded but dorky father here." She informed me making him chuckle.
"Yup, your mother's a strong one just like you Glor." He stated as he gave me a wink making me giggle and fold my arms.
"Oh, I know where I got my confidence from." I bragged winking at my mom where she giggled and rolled her eyes with a grin.
"So feeling better now?" She asked curiously.
"Heh yeah, I think so," I replied. My dad patted my head gently.
"Don't worry Baby Cake, everything is going to be fine." He reassured.
"He's right, we're all here for you sweetie, so don't feel bad for yourself. Just take yourself time off with romance for now and relax. Besides, you're almost out of school and we don't want our daughter to be crying over a boy aren't we?" She asked and I giggled and nodded.
"You're right, thanks, mom." I grinned brightly and she grinned back.
"Anytime sweetie, now go ahead and relax for a while. Dinner won't start until six okay?" She reminded.
"Ok, mom. Do you want me to check if the plants are dried up?" I asked curiously, but my mom shakes her head with a grin.
"No need dear. I watered it a few minutes ago." She told me and I smiled back.
"Alright. Let me know if you need me." I reminded her and she giggled and smiled softly.
"Yes, sweetie. I know." My mom responded as I giggled and rise from my seat. Then my dad came up and plants a kiss on my head.
"Take a soothing break from school. Don't think about what happened today. Focus on you, Glo." He reassured while patting my head and I smiled warmly at him before kissing his cheek.
"Thanks, Dad," I replied with a grin and saunter to the stairs as I marched upstairs to my room. Once I arrived, I changed into my comfy red t-shirt and maroon pajama pants with red horizontal stripes. After changing clothes, I laid on my bed with my stereo playing one of my favorite songs from Marina and the Diamonds, "How to Be a Heartbreaker" in the room while texting Harriet and Zara about Marc.
Harriet: No way! What?!
Me: Yeah, I found him shirtless with a girl on top of him when I got there.
Zara: Damn, I feel bad for you.
Me: Thanks, Zara.
Harriet: Imma kill that bastard for hurting our precious Cinderella! >:(
Zara: I wouldn't do that in school if I were you, Harri 😓
Harriet: So? The school can kiss my ass for all I care about. *sends a selfie of her flipping a middle finger*
Zara: lol is that even necessary?
Harriet: Yes it is bruh. ;)
Me: Lol brutal, but you guys don't need to worry, I threw a book at him for cheating on me and I already block him just now.
Zara: Wise choice. 👍
Harriet: Hell yeah, you show that guy who's boss! >:)
Me: lol thanks, so how's the arcade?
Harriet: Awesome AF! We went to the VR arcade!
Me: Wait what?
Zara: Yeah, they have a VR arcade at Dave and Buster's. There was a bit of a long line, but we made it. We put it on Jurassic Park theme where dinosaurs were coming you and there's even a big sea Dino that almost ate us at the end. It was pretty hectic, but we both have fun overall.
Me: does sound like fun, I wish I could come...
Harriet: Awww don't worry Glor, you can come with us next time!
Me: Well I do love Dave and Buster's but sure, count me in.
Zara: we're not going back there tomorrow right? Cuz I have to babysit my little sister after school.
Harriet: Nah we're not, but we can do it in the summer!
Me: That sounds like a good idea to me.
Zara: yeah that would be good.
Harriet: heh then it settles. Once school's over, we can finally go to Dave and Buster's for our graduation celebration and of course, we wouldn't forget our Cinderella's road to independence! 😁🥳🎉🎊
Me: Road to independence? Hmmm...
Zara: I liked that, it adds a nice spin to it.
Me: Well I do need something to keep my mind off of Marc, so yeah I'm in.
Harriet: noice 👍
Zara: cool. Anyway, I need to go now. I gotta put Sissy to bed now.
Harriet: Awww okay. See ya in school Glory.
Me: yeah see you, Harriet. Bye Zara, tell Sissy that I said hi.
Zara: I will take care of yourself k?
Me: I will Zara, bye.
Right after we stopped texting, the song ended as one of my songs from my playlist starts playing "Stronger" by Kelly Clarkson in the room. I then glance at the window to see a cherry blossom tree blooming under the gorgeous sunset. I formed a small smile at the beautiful view.
The blossoms are blooming fast.
I thought while staring at the cherry blossom. Soon an idea popped out of my head when I grabbed my phone and took a picture of the tree. I turned on my phone to get a look at the picture. I tilt my head for a minute before grinning.
I should take pictures of the cherry blossoms just to cheer myself up after I blocked Marc. Hell, this picture looks nice! I'll be taking more of these before dinner starts.
I pondered with a giddy grin as I let out a giggle where I continue taking pictures of the cherry blossoms as the image of my ex-boyfriend has faded from my mind.
