It's the fourth day since the season ended for Bruins and Torey seems to be relaxing after frantic months of hockey. And your holiday started a while ago, you being a student of pedagogics. One day he comes home, huge grin on his cheeks as he trots into your living room. He plops down next to you and stares at you wordlessly.
"Torey, are you okay?" you chuckle snuggle closer to him. You hear him chuckle: "Perfectly fine. Y/N, baby, look at me, please."
You look up at him, at his beaming eyes: "Are you sure you are alright? You seem...odd."
"Perfectly fine, I swear. Listen...I was thinking...since we haven't gotten real holidays since we started dating..."
He pulls two tickets from the pocket on the back of his jeans and continues: "We should go on a cruise. Just the two of us. A nice, relaxing holiday on a cruiser."
"Are you being serious right now?"
"Of course. Baby, I feel bad for not spending time with you during the season and I want to make it up to you. And I know how much you've always wanted to go on a cruise."
"Torey..." you sigh, knowing no words are needed to explain how you feel. Your gazes meet and you share loving, yet passionate kiss.
"So...will it good enough?" he asks jokingly when you pull apart and tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear. Even though he sounds happy, you can see it in his eyes he is concerned how would you react. You take his hand in yours and look at him: "It's perfect. Couldn't wish for a better way to spend holidays with you."
Two days later your bags are packed and your passports ready for an adventure.
"Y/N, our ride is here! Are you ready?" Torey yells from the hallway and soon you hear his footsteps approaching your bedroom. Not a minute passes before his head peeks in: "Baby, we really have to go. The ship won't wait for us."
You look up at him with red puffy eyes and he quickly sits down next to you: "Were you crying? What's wrong? Listen, if you don't want to go, that's okay..."
"No, Torey, I want to go. You know how much I wished to go cruising..."
"Then what's wrong?"
You look down at your lap and whisper quietly, tears falling on the fabric of your dress: "I-I might have to tell you something..."
"O-kay."
"Promise, you won't get mad."
"I promise," he puts his arm around you and pulls you closer to him. He leans his chin on top of your head and mumbles: "What's wrong?"
"Well...it seems that three of us will go on a cruise."
"Excuse me? Wh-What are you trying to say?"
"Torey, I am pregnant."
He gently grabs your arms and turns you around. Now you are facing him and you can't look away. Instead of disbelief on his face, you see nothing but love: "I am gonna be a dad?"
"I guess that means we will be parents, yes. Aren't you mad?"
"Mad? What for? I am excited! This is the best thing that could've happened to us!"
You smile at him, but there is something bothering you. Being caring boyfriend as he is, he notices that: "There is something else, isn't it?"
"Yeah. But I will tell you later, we have to go now."
You catch the ship just in time and as soon as you get to your room, it starts moving. Torey looks at you and grins: "We made it."
"Just in time," you return him a grin and squeak as he traps you against the wall, his hands on both sides of your head. Grinning mischievously, he brushes his lips against yours and kisses you. When he pulls away, his grin is even wider: "Guess this will be the best trip of our life."
"What makes you think so?"
"Well, I am on a cruise with my beautiful girlfriend who is pregnant. Couldn't wish for a better vacations."
"You are being so cheesy," you slap his arm and chuckle as he groans in faked pain. Then suddenly, you get your straight face back on: "Torey, what I wanted to say earlier is... I don't know if we can keep the baby. I mean, you have hockey and I am just a student..."
"Don't talk like that! Of course we can keep him or her. We are not on our own, we have my team and their families. And I know other wives wouldn't mind taking care of the baby."
"You think so?"
"Baby, I know so."
Wordlessly, you hug him and deeply exhale as his arms snake around your waist. He mumbles in your hair: "Now relax, we are supposed to be on holidays. I saw they have a great indoor swimming pool... wanna take a dip?"
You used to compete in swimming when you were younger, so being in the water was one of things you would never miss. You wiggle out of his grip and dig your bikini out of the bag: "Get dressed, slowpoke!"
"I'll give you 'slowpoke'!" he jokingly threatens, making you squeal again and lock yourself into bathroom.
"Slowpoke, slowpoke," you tease him through the locked door and hear him chuckle darkly: "Wait till we get to the swimming pool."
After you get changed into your bathing suit, you slip out of the bathroom, but before you can make a step further, pair of strong arms lifts you up.
"Toreeeeeeeey!"
"Who's the slowpoke now?" he laughs up at you before putting you down. As soon as your feet touch the floor, he challenges you: "Last one is a rotten egg!"
He already rushes to the door, when you shout after him: "That's not fair, Torey Steven Krug!"
After intense race down the halls and staircases, you beat him only by millisecond, just because he nearly slips on the wet tiles of the swimming pool. You jump in a water and yell from the center of the empty swimming pool: "Who's the slowpoke now, you big, dangerous hockey player!"
With a loud splash, he joins you in the water and disappears under the surface. A moment later he drags you for your ankles and drags you under the water. He pulls you to him and you wrap your legs around his waist. One of his hands tangles in your hair and he pulls you head closer for a kiss. You've been through a lot, you've tried many crazy and romantic things, but you've never been kissed under the water.
When you get back on surface, you are both grinning and gasping for air. Torey has still his hand in your hair while his other hand is around your waist.
"Well, I've never thought I'd be kissing a girl under the water."
"Could say the same. But it was perfect."
He drags you under the surface and kisses you again. You melt into a kiss, his strong arms holding you to him. Although keeping your eyes open under the water is hard, you don't close your eyes and you take in all his features that make you fall for him all over again. His brown hair, now floating in the water. His gorgeous eyes and his cheekbones. Everything. His eyes are open as well and you can almost see them glimmer.
When you are both low on air, he swims up, pulling you after him. Again, you are breathless, but nothing less than huge grinning faces. He leans his forehead on yours: "Have I told you how beautiful you are?"
"I believe you have told me that multiple times," you chuckle and peck tip of his nose.
"Not nearly enough times then. Let me tell you again. You are beautiful."
You feel yourself blushing hard. To conceal that, you wiggle out of his grip and splash him. Then you race away and out of the pool. He swims to the edge: "Where did you go now?"
"I-I am cold, actually."
"Yeah, right. Get back in here."
"Nope," you smile and pop the "p", making him chuckle darkly: "Wait till I get out of the water."
"Oh, yeah? What are you gonna- Don't you dare splashing me!" you squeal as you see his eyes darken. Too late. When you wipe the water from your eyes, he is already out of the pool, coming towards you with his arms outstretched. You try to run away, but you slip and fortunately, he catches you before you hit the floor. He pulls you into his embrace and mumbles in your wet hair: "Don't kill yourself, please. I am planning to spend the rest of my life with you and our baby."
"What makes you think we'll have only one child?" you ask him and rest your head on his shoulder.
"You always find the right answer to make me think, now don't you?"
"Yeah, I kinda do. That's why you love me."
"That and many other things."
You remain hugged for a while, water drying off both of you while you two are thinking about your baby and the possibility of having more kids someday in a future.
A week later you return home, your skin tanned and hair lighter, your lives full of new adventures and most importantly, your heads filled with new memories. The whole week has been nothing but romantic getaway, but one thing you will both remember the most is that first day, spent in the swimming pool until you were both hungry and tired. The next day, when the boat stopped on shore for few hours, Torey bought you a diamond pendant for your silver necklace, shaped like a stork. When he gave you the necklace and the pendant, he said: "So you will never forget you were pregnant during our first real holidays."
