1 Kings 19:9-13
'There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: "What are you doing here, Elijah?" He replied, "I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. The Israelites have rejected your covenant, torn down your altars, and put your prophets to death with the sword. I am the only one left, and now they are trying to kill me too." The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord , for the Lord is about to pass by." Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord , but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave. Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" '

How is it feel when we are in a crowd? a lot of people talking, mocking, and reasoning, There is a piece of loud music and different sound we heard. It was so deafening, right?
And that was the time to look for a place to power down and a quiet place to exhale and rest your ears from the noise.
Sometimes, in our spiritual lives, we are indeed clogged with different noise - burdens. And it's difficult to escape extra noise. The clamor of both our external and internal worlds can be deafening. But when we're willing to power down, we begin to understand the psalmist's reminder of the necessity to be still so we can know God (Psalm 46:10, "He says, "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.").
In 1 King 19, we discover as well that when the prophet Elijah looked for the Lord, he didn't find Him in the pandemonium of the wind or the earthquake or the fire (v.9-13). Instead, Elijah heard God's gentle whisper (v.12).
Noise is sometimes practically guaranteed during the celebration when families, and come together, it's likely a time of conversations, food, laughter, and sweet expression of love. But when we want some time to escape and want a more sweetest extra noise, let's just quietly open our hearts, and there we find that time with God is even sweeter. Like Elijah, we're more likely to encounter God in the stillness. And sometimes, if we listen, we too will hear the gentle whisper.

May this God's word, be a reminder to us that when we want to power down, let's just open our hearts and find time with God.

Ask God and let your heart open, so when we are in the middle of the extra noise, we still can hear God's gentle whisper.
