Once a year, the Druids celebrate a week called Magic week, where everyone with magic has a craving to do more than possible. It's a cause for celebration, but if your hiding your powers... Well, that's got to hurt.

Merlin hated magic week.

Every year, for a week, he would take a trip to the 'tavern.' Arthur would yell at him for weeks more, but Merlin decided that was better than being killed.

But this week, Arthur demanded a hunting trip, just him, the knights of the round table, Mordred, Merlin, and Gwen.

Packing everything, Merlin felt unrest in his head. It was starting soon.

Clattering came from behind him.

"How you holding up?"

Merlin recognized the voice as Mordred.

Turning, he saw the knight was pale.

"Don't worry. It just... hurts. A lot."

Mordred winced. "You know, I wish I was still with my people now."

Merlin laughed. "Gaius said he had some potions and remedies to help with the pain. He has magic too, you know."

Mordred was about to say something, but then Magic week began.

Mordred's POV

I could barely see through blurry eyes as my magic begged to be released. Just say some commands... I thought to myself. Shaking my head, I get up, my head clearing a bit.

Emrys was across from me, in a tight ball, head buried in his hands.

I wince, wondering how hard it was for him.

"Emrys?" I ask, wondering if I should have used his non magical name.

"Yes?" his head lifts up, to reveal pure golden eyes.

I jump. "Merlin!" His eyes don't fade.

"Why should I hide it?" He was reading my mind.

I shake my head. "Merlin..."

"That's not my name."

I walk over. "Snap out of it! Arthur might see you!"

His eyes don't change.

I slap him.

He blinks and his eyes turn blue. I sigh in relief.

He winces. "I think we need to get to Gaius."

Merlin POV

It was scary.

Seeing myself for the first time.

Seeing how powerful I really was.

I shiver, and Mordred notices.

"We're almost there."

I nod, and try to forget how all my power surged against my barriers. I could instantly think of a million different ways to use magic in that single second.

We storm into the chambers, finding Gaius plating multiple different foods.

He sighed when he saw me.

"Merlin! I told you to stay here until I was done."

I shrug, and sit on one chair. Mordred sits next to me, after Gaius sent him a glare.

"I won't have any of you celebrating today. No magic."

Magic....

I shake my head, and reach of a slice of dragonfruit.
