The sweet scent of Christmas was evident in almost every household. Chiming bells, snowy nights, colourful lights, and the smell of half-baked gingerbread.

"Say it again..", Jane teased.

"Biscuits", I rolled my eyes.

I didn't get the joke, but it was cute to have friends again.

"I never thought baking could be so therapeutic, it's amazing..", Elijah sat on the armrest, "mildly heals the depression.."

"Must've been nostalgic for you?", Jane looked at me, intently.

I wasn't forcing memories this time, I was savouring the moment. I gazed into her light blue eyes, "you're really pretty.."

Jane chuckled and looked away. I'd never seen her blushing.

"Was Veronica mad about me?", I turned to look at Elijah, "I wanna call you Chocolate.."

"No, and what?", she looked up from her phone.

"I like your skin.. and your name is huge.."

"Jesus", she laughed, "I mean.. up to you?"

"Chocolate.."

"You sound like a baby, right now.."

"I am a baby.. where's my mother?"

Elijah looked at me with concerned eyes. I stared into the fireplace.

Silence filled the room. I didn't have thoughts, it was as though they were fuel to the fire in front.. or maybe, within..

I felt Jane's arms around me. From a person who hates cuddling, I really gladly reciprocated the hug.

"How was the date?"

I smiled, "if there was one word to describe it.."

"Out of five stars?", Elijah sat facing us.

"I'll give it a one star, once, and a five star, thrice.. do the maths.."

"Maths?"

"Maths!?"

"MATH!"

"Fuck off! Jesus Christ!", we laughed out loud.

"Okay, so that is abooout..", Elijah calculated in her head.

"One star once and five star thrice, that's fifteen and one. Sixteen by four, you're saying four stars.. that's fantastic.."

"Jesus! Your brain!"

"Yeah, whatever..", Jane chuckled.

"No, I can't rate it. I'm just confused.."

"Tell us?", Elijah studied my face.

"I feel.. strange with her. Like.. things are unnecessarily made up.."

"Like.. formal? Or.. just, fake?", Jane questioned.

"It's a mix of all", I shrugged, "she's strange.. she's different.. I mean, if I'd known her it'd be sexy but I don't.. so it's just intimidating.."

The fire crackled and popped in the fireplace.

"I don't know which one's the intimidating one, anymore. When I'm close to her, she comes all undone to me and becomes a stuttering mess, suddenly.. and the scary part is, I derive pleasure from it.."

"Is she scared of you?"

"I mean, she probably does realise how intelligent and strong you really are..", Jane complimented.

I snickered, "I'm not.."

"You are. Being so self aware is not a trivial thing.."

"Wow.. that's a nice compliment.."
