"No measure of time with you will be long enough, but let's start with forever."

Axel rummaged through the weapons hastily as I explained the whole Chase ordeal to everyone, well, as much as I know.

I just feel like a barrel of unanswered questions myself. What was J doing at the old library? Who was Chase, really? Was he really on our side?

Hunter walks in, clearly exhausted after his trip.

"Dad," Axel runs to him, giving him a hug.

"Hey buddy, I'm sorry guys, I tried to make it yesterday, but there was this really boring meeting and interview that I just couldn't get out of- where are the former birthday twins?" Hunter asks.

The M&Ms exchange a look. "You might wanna sit down for this."

"Can't you guys call Alden and Myra for help?" Hunter asks after we've explained everything to him.

"I've been trying to reach him, portals are shut down again," Heath sighs.

"How can I help?" Hunter asks, worried.

"We need you to gather the whole town at the old grounds of the fair. Make rich people calls or whatever, anything it takes, the town shouldn't suffer," Max explains.

"And you kids are gonna go there by yourselves?"

"Hunter, there's no other option. Take Parker with you," Mason says and Park begins to protest.

"We're not hearing anything, you're going with Hunter," Max says in finality.

"We gotta go," I say, looking at the clock.

We grab the bags as Axel and I move to one of the smaller, faster cars that Hunter possesses, since the both of us are going directly to the old town library.

The M&Ms and Heath take a jeep, trying to get help from Heaven. They leave before us.

As we're leaving, I see Axel talking to Hunter and the father's worry radiates all around us.

The ever cloudy sky looks ominous today, a forewarning of what's to come. I see Jenny run out of her house.

"Scar, what's going on?" she asks.

I look at her. Will I come back to her tonight? Didn't we deserve more time?

"Everything's going to be okay, you and Dave should help Hunter gather everyone to the old grounds."

"Where are you going?" she pulls me back.

"Amos," is all I say.

"I'll come with, I can fight," she offers strongly, standing straighter.

I smile. "I need you safe, here. Okay?"

Her stance falters. "I can't be here knowing you're there," she whispers.

I tuck a piece of hair behind her ear, leaning my forehead against hers. "We're gonna be fine, okay? Just be safe," I say lowly.
