Your POV

"Y/N get your ass downstairs we have company." My little sister yells as if she's a grown adult, she's only 14. I groaned in response and looked at my phone that was set on the floor. 12:45pm, well shit I've slept through most of my morning. I got up and went to the bathroom, I took a quick shower and got dressed. As I was going downstairs I hear my grandmother talking about me and simply bragging to whoever the hell it was that my sister was the best student at her school and I was the average student. Typical.

As I approached the living room I saw a family of 5 sitting there listening to the constant rants of my grandmother of how she raised my sister and I.
I was grateful for my grandmother raising us, simply because she was the only adult in my family that I depended on. My mother had left and my father worked in a different country while sending weekly checks to my grandmother to maintain my sister and I.

I was brought out of my deep thinking when my grandmother was calling for me to approach her and introduce myself to the people that have now made themselves comfortably rested in my living room.
"Y/N, this is the family that has just recently moved in next door. They've come to introduce themselves and I invited them over for dinner tonight."
My grandmother seemed so excited that new people have finally moved into the house next door.
"Hi I'm Y/N, it's a pleasure to meet you."

I couldn't help but lock across at all the faces that were now staring at me as I told them my name. I caught my eye on what seemed to be the oldest sibling of the three and as she got up to give me a friendly hug I grew nervous inside.
"Hi I'm Lauren, and honestly the pleasure is all mine. This is my brother Chris, my sister Taylor, and my parents Mike and Clara."

I walked towards the mother and father of the lovely girl and put my hand out to shake theirs, but the response I got was unexpected. Mike and Clara both got up as well as Taylor and Chris and hugged my soul out. I honestly felt as if I was going to suffocate in the group hug this family was giving me.
"It's nice to meet you too Y/N, your grandmother was just telling me about the college you were going to and we couldn't help but feel excited because Lauren will be going to the same one."

I looked over at the green eyed Latina and smiled at her. She looked down at her feet and saw that her cheeks had a tint of red on them. I chuckled at her reaction and turned my attention back to her parents.
"Please don't ever feel the need to call us Mr. & Mrs. Jauregui, you can just call us Mike and Clara."
It was nice to see how great these people were, I started to get a bit excited myself. Not because of the fact they were just random strangers being nice but they were great people and we hadn't had a family this great living in this neighborhood for a while.
"Y/N why don't you go upstairs with Lauren and show her your room and your sister can take Taylor and Chris into the lounge. I'll be down here with Mike and Clara."

Why in the hell did I have to take Lauren into my room, it literally looks like a dumpster with all the shit I have laying around the floor but being the quiet person I am, I nodded and directed Taylor, Chris , and Lauren upstairs and showed them where it is they needed to go.

When Lauren and I reached my room I started kicking and moving everything into one spot so it didn't look like such a mess. I heard her giggle and I turned around to see what was so amusing.
"What's so funny?" I said and she looked up at me with the most beautiful smile I've ever seen in my entire life. "Nothing it's just that you're worried about the small mess in your room while my whole house looks like we've wrecked the place with sledgehammers."

I laughed at what she had said and she just looked at me with adoration, I pushed off the clothes on my bed and patted the space next to me so she would sit down.
"So are you ready for college tomorrow?" I asked, not knowing what to say exactly but it was the first thing that popped into my mind. "Well kinda, I just don't really know anyone except for you so I guess you'll be the only friend I have." She chuckles after what she had said and couldn't help but feel insecurity rush over me as I realized what she was wearing. She wore a black crop top with sunflowers on it and black skinny jeans that tore a bit on both sides of her thighs.
She looked beautiful.
I guess she had noticed me staring and switched the conversation to something else.

"Hey I think your phone is ringing." I looked over at my desk and saw my phone was buzzing, I walked over and grabbed it to see who was calling me. It was my ex girlfriend Mia. I didn't want to answer knowing what she'd say to me so I declined the call. Soon after I got a text and read it like a fool.
"You're nothing without me. Don't even bother coming to school tomorrow because you know it'll just be space you'd be taking up."

"Hey Y/N, are you okay?" I already felt like a selfish bitch with the need to cry in front of a girl that I had just met. "Yeah, I'm alright just stupid people saying stupid shit." I couldn't look into Laurens eyes because she'd then see how hurt I was just by the tears ready to fall from the brim of my eyes.
"Y/N? Turn around please I feel like that shitty person said something and you're on the brink of crying. I see you shaking from here." I was deciding whether or not to do so because we had just met and I felt bad for this happening now, in front of her. I turned around and saw how Laurens eyes went from bright green to a dark emerald green. She felt bad for me and I felt so stupid for crying in front of her. "I'm sorry for crying, it's just my ex had texted me and what she says to me hurts me so much sometimes. I gave everything and I loved her, but to her it was just a joke."

Lauren came and wrapped her arms around my neck and I lazily wrapped my arms around her waist. The smell of her skin lingered under my nose and I couldn't help but close my eyes and feel happiness at the simple vanilla smell, her touch was the most electrifying thing, as if the exact moment we touched I felt a warmth in my heart. "I will be here for you Y/N. Don't let her or anyone hurt you like this, you deserve so much better than this okay?" Her words were sincere and I was glad to know that she was genuinely being friendly to me even though we had just started talking.

"Thank you Lauren, honestly it means a lot to me." She didn't let go of me she simply held onto me as if she was enjoying the contact between us or was it just comfort?

What felt like forever, she slowly started to let go. She just looked into my eyes and I looked into hers and I swear her eyes could tell a story that I was desperate to read.
I was starting to feel as if I was gaining a new friend and that made me happy.
