Taron Mills
Tonight had been a whirlwind already.
Maggie best my mother in an argument at the club.
My parents told me they now both want me to get information on the Kings through Maggie.
I was almost robbed and almost beaten to death.
Maggie saved me.
And now she's alone with me in my room.

"You really didn't have to do that for me you know" I sighed and started to dig around for the first aid kit I knew I had somewhere in my room.
"You really thing I would have just let them kill you?" She asked and I turned to face her.
Her bright hazel eyes were already looking up at me.
As I looked at her eyes, it was if I was hypnotised by them, I couldn't draw my eyes away.
"W-well, Do you really think they'd have killed me?" I asked, not really wanting to know how close I had been to death.
"Yep." She nodded and I sighed.
"Charming"
"They're wannabes. If they had killed you, they definitely would have been caught. If you're a true gangster, you never get caught" She shrugged.
Her unbothered tone of voice when talking about murder was a bit unsettling. Then again, I was almost confident that I was ok with her, and she was ok with me.
If I was wrong and she wasn't ok with me, then I did realise that this would be her perfect opportunity.

"Don't look so frightened. I wouldn't kill you. I wouldn't intentionally kill anyone" she said and looked down.
"That's good to know" I said and went back to digging for the kit.
"Taron," She said and I picked out the kit from the bathroom cupboard.
"Yeah?" I said nervously.
"What have you heard about me?" She asked and my heart dropped.
"A few things"
"Such as"
"I should really clean that" I said pointing to her lip.
"It can wait" she said and hit my hand away. "Please Taron" She said, and I saw that her eyes were truly pleading.

"I've heard that you and your brother do dealings for your parents. But they're the masterminds behind it all. I've heard that your parents and brother had to cover for you because you've killed people" I told her and she nodded.
"I actually make a lot of our plans. My brother is a talker. He's the face of the operations. I'm just there for support. And if someone threatens my brother then I step in" she told me and I nodded. "We're not bad Taron. We're not bad people, there are bad people and they're who we try and get rid of. We try to take all the business away. That's what we do."
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Well, I suppose, we'll, You're not horrible" she smirked and I couldn't help but smile.
"Let me clean that now?" I said clearing my throat.

With slightly shaking hands and a racing heart, I took out a small wipe from the green box and tried to get it open.
I pulled at the packaging but couldn't get the wipe out.
"Struggling are we?" She said but there was something playful in her voice. "Give it here"
I handed her the small wipe and felt the softness of her hand as her fingers brushed against mine.
I wanted more than anything to keep my fingers in hers. But they slipped away slowly.
I watched with a slightly open mouth as she ripped the cover with her teeth.
She handed it back to me and again I had to draw my eyes away from her and clear my throat.

I took the wipe from the case.
Slowly and unsurely, I reached my hand out and shakily cupped her face.
She flinched and I took my hand away quickly.
"Sorry. It's just reflex" she said and looked down to the floor.
"I-it's ok" I said.
She slowly took my hand in hers and placed it back on her face.
As I held the wipe closer to her face, She parted her lips slightly, causing my mouth to get dry out of nerves.
I held her face gently and started to wipe away the now dried stream of blood coming from her lip.
She closed her eyes tight as I wiped over the actual cut.
"Fuck" she groaned and squeezed her eyes tight.
"I'm sorry"
"It's ok"

"Why are you helping me?" She asked quickly as I threw the now blood covered wipe away.
I shrugged at her question.
"All you've heard about me is bad. You've seen me fight my brother and I've thrown a knife at you,"
"And tackled me to the ground"
"Exactly. So why are you helping me?" She said and I knew I could tell her the real reason.
"I like helping people" I said and she smiled.
She stood up slowly and I realised how close we were.
There was merely thirty centimetres between us.
I looked down on her face, but her eye's never looked far enough upwards to met mine. I desperately wanted them to.
I wanted to get lost in those eyes again.

As she did look up into my eyes, my breath caught in my throat.
I searched her eyes and leaned my head forward an inch.
"I should probably get going" she whispered quickly looking away.
"Yeah, it's late" I said returning my head to its upright position.
I didn't want her to go.
Not at all.
"Well, thank you" She said and placed her hands on my upper arms.
I was going to hold her waist before I realised that she was only doing it to move me out of her way.
"Bye" she sighed before opening the door.

"Wait!" I said and she turned around in the doorway.
"Yeah?" She said, and I thought I saw a glimmer of hope on her face.
I wanted to ask her to stay.
I wanted to ask her to have dinner with me.
"Would- could I have your number?" I stammered and she smiled.
As she bit her bottom lip, she nodded and held her hand out.
I put my phone in her hand and she typed away.
"There you go" she said and handed it back to me.
"Well. I guess I'll text you" I shrugged and she nodded.
"I guess you should"
"Goodnight. And thank you. You know, for saving me" I said and she nodded.
"No problem. Goodnight Taron" she smiled before walking away, closing my door as she left.

I ran my hands through my hair.
What was happening?
Why was I feeling this way about her?
I barely knew her.
She didn't know me.
And yet I wanted nothing more than to have dinner with her and spend nights and days with her.
I wanted to be the one she would come to just to talk or hang out with.
I wanted to text her straight away.
But I thought it would probably be best to wait so I didn't seem strange or desperate.

I paced around my room for a while, trying to gather what I was thinking and how I was feeling.
I stared out of the window and a light turning on caught my eye.
I watched as she came into the light.
Right there in front of the window she took of her leather jacket and started lifting her dress.
"Look away look away look away" I said to myself, and before she lifted it too far, I turned my head away.

I discarded my blazer and shirt and changed my smart trousers for a pair of grey sweatpants.
I couldn't get Maggie off my mind.
I picked up my phone and steadily typed a message to her.
'Turns out we're opposite each other'
I sent it and she sent a message back quicker than I thought she would.
'What are you talking about courtyard?'
She said and I couldn't help but smile at her little nickname for me.
'Look out your window'

I walked to the window and saw that she was already looking out of it.
I waved and she just smiled and took out her phone again.
'Nice outfit'
I looked down and rolled my eyes.
'Interested?'
'You wish'
I did. I did wish that she was as interested in me as I was in her.
I admired her smile and the way her vest and shorts hugged and framed her body.
'I could say the same for your outfit'
'Perv'
I smiled down at my phone and waved again before walking away from the window.

I flopped down on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
'Night Taron x'
She sent, and I smiled at the kiss she had put on the end.
If only that kiss would be real instead of virtual.
