Walking around the store, Adelaine missed Richie's sweetness and bubbly attitude. Without her, the workplace tasted dull. The ginger ate a few pieces of Skittles to bring the flavor back in her mouth. As she worked between the cash register and the racks, she counted the hours and wished time will speed up so she could go home.

To be honest, Adelaine was nervous over the kiss. She knew he was still a child yes, but she didn't even thought about it. She had to know what it felt like to kiss him again. Even it was the last time she'll ever do it. The ginger also thought of what he would tell her later on. Was he going to move out and leave her? Was that why he was so quiet? Overthinking only made her panic. By the time the clock hanging at the wall struck midnight, Adelaine quickly got her things and bolted for the exit.

There was no signs of rain clouds in the dark sky. The moon was also nowhere to be found, and its absence seemingly darkened the streets. The few postlights barely gave the ginger any illumination as she trudged on the cold concrete. She barely noticed the man hiding in the shadows, like a predator waiting for its prey. He came out of nowhere, pointing a gun at her. She could taste the intensity of anger in her tongue as it travelled from the tip towards her whole mouth. It was bitter and no amount Skittles in the world can contradict the awful flavor. As he stepped out of the shadows, she finally recognized him – the man who almost robbed them. Chills ran down the back of her spine as she looked into his dark cruel and unforgiving eyes. He still thought it was her who called the police and got him arrested.

"Please," Adelaine spoke calmly, not wanting to provoke him even more, "You don't have to do this."

"I lost my wife because I got arrested," He told her, his voice shaky, "I could've saved her if you just gave me the goddamn money!"

"It wasn't me I swear –"

She heard the loud sound of the gun before she felt the bullet lodge itself inside her. Her brown eyes widened in shock as she tasted his mixed of emotions of shock and fear, finally realizing what he had done. But instead of helping her, he ran away and disappeared into the dark night. Dark, crimson blood seeped into the front of the ginger's beige uniform as she fell on the floor, her ears ringing. She felt numb as her breathing started to speed up, blood filling up the inside of her chest. Adelaine could hear herself gurgle in pain as the crimson liquid flowed from her agape mouth.

All the ginger could think of at that moment as she lay dying on the cold ground was Michael. There was so many things she wanted to tell him, but she couldn't anymore. She wanted to teach him how to be good and to give him every good thing in the world that his loved ones failed to do. Fat, salty tears slipped out of her eyes as she realized that she was going to leave him alone in this cruel, world. A young, confused, innocent boy who couldn't understand the darkness inside him.

It became too hard to breath as she started to recall the first time she laid eyes on the blond. She couldn't help but think that he looked like an angel, the light she needed in the darkest parts of her life. All the moments they spent together flashed in her head like a movie that was fast forwarded. She saw how the Langdon boy looked at her with a sparkle in his gorgeous blue eyes. Adelaine wouldn't admit it, but she hated being alone. Michael changed that. He changed everything in her life. The ginger wasn't really religious, but she prayed to see him again, even if it's the last time. She wanted to ran her fingers through his curls, to trace his face and to look into his curious blue eyes. Adelaine started to sob despite of the unbearable pain in her chest and the blood gurgling in there. She had broken her promise. She said she'll never leave him, but she was going to. The ginger can only hope that he would never forget her and that someone would take care of him and love him just like she did.

"M-Michael," She uttered with extreme difficulty, her heart beat slowing down. She wished that she could hear him. Adelaine wanted him to know that he was the last thought on her mind before she passed away.

I love you.

As her eyelids started to get heavy, she wondered if she would go to Heaven, and if her Heaven had a certain boy with blond hair and blue eyes, smiling at her.

Adelaine Harrow died on exactly 12:05 midnight. As soon as she closed her eyes and take one final breath, rain fell from the sky. Somehow, it felt like the weather mourned for the ginger's death, her blood swirling down the sewers as the police found her dead body on the ground, a smile plastered on her pale face.
