"Alright, buddy. Let's just put this hearing-aid in his ear and test it out." Doctor Robert said, looking at Michael and I.

I nodded, feeling Michael's hand slip under mine.

Michael squeezed my hand as he looked at me.

Giving me the, It'll be alright look.

I sighed loudly, feeling my heart race.

What if the hearing-aids don't work? What can we do about it then? Michael wants to give his all in helping little Mike but what if everything goes wrong?

Mike looked up at me as Doctor Robert gently put the hearing-aid in his ear.

"Alright, now we'll just turn it on a little.." Doctor Robert softly said, turning the ear-aid on.

I held onto Michael's hand tightly.

"Can you hear me, Michael?" The doctor loudly asked Mike.

Mike looked at Doctor Robert with no emotion.

He suddenly turned to me as he started giggling.

I bit my lip, "Michael, baby? Can you hear mommy?" I cooed.

I waited for a response.

Mike just sat there on the bed, bouncing around, showing no emotion.

I bit my lip harder, feeling my eyes water up.

Doctor Robert sighed, gently taking the hearing-aids off. "Ms. Gordy-" He sighed again, loudly.

"I'm afraid it seems like Michael hear is going to be deaf for..... A while." He gently said.

I tilted my head, "W-What do you mean?" I quietly asked, my voice shaking.

The doctor shrugged, "Hearing-Aids don't work for everyone. Michael just happens to be one of them.." He shrugged again, "I can't think of anything else we can do.."

I let go of Michael's hand as I walked closer to Doctor Robert.

"N-No surgery? Nothing!?" I panicked.

"Ms. Gordy, surgery would be deadly. Because it may help Michael but it could easily make things worse." He calmly said.

"Like what?" I snapped.

Doctor Robert sighed, "Like aching ears for the rest of his life. You, being his mother, wouldn't want that for your child, would you?" He said.

I sighed, "No.." I mumbled.

The doctor shrugged, "I'm sorry." He said, walking out of the room.

I covered my mouth, watching Mike play with his hands.

I slowly felt tears fall. My poor baby..

"Mia.." Michael softly said, placing one hand on my shoulder.

"It's going to be alright. We'll figure out a wa-"

I swatted Michael's hand away, "S-Stop saying that!" I raised my voice, gently pushing Michael away from me.

"Not everything in the world with children will be alright!" I shouted.

Michael's eyes widened.

"It doesn't matter how much money you have in the world, Michael! You know why? Because the doctor even said they can't do anything about it." I snapped.

"I appreciate you helping, Michael. B-But just stop thinking that there is always a way!" I cried.

Michael slowly shook his head, "Mia, there will always be a way. God does everything for a reason." He gently said.
