I left the room to head back to the ball. Hopefully, Jasem wasn't trying to entertain Princess Ava right now.

"Oh, Rion!" Jasem called out. I turned my head towards the voice and saw Jasem running down the hall towards me. "I was just doing a bit of exploring around the palace. The ball is in full swing and Princess Ava is demanding that a lot of attention is on her. It was getting a little too much for me so I had to take a breather."

"It's fine. I was actually going to look for you so this is convenient for me. Do you want me to give you a little mini-tour around the palace since we're out here?"" I offered. Jasem smiled and nodded.

We began to walk side by side down the corridors. I would point to some art pieces that adorned the halls or point to rooms that were significant. I didn't think that Jasem would be interested but he was paying attention. He asked a few questions on certain things.

"The castle is gorgeous. The palace back home is just made to keep the rooms cool since it gets hot. It's pretty in its own way but we don't have the luxury of putting things on display out of fear that they would melt. I wish our castle was like this."

I looked at him and responded. "I would rather live in your palace than this. It can get suffocating in here. It's so closed off from the outside that it makes me want to run out or smash a window open. The windows here aren't usually opened because the queen and princess don't want bugs flying in."

"Even though we have large, open spaces, it still feels lonely back home. I wasn't allowed to go out, remember? No matter what room I went to or what pet I was given by my father, I still felt lonely." He admitted.

We approached the end of the hall where a giant glass window separate us from the outside. I decided to unlatch it and push it open. A cool breeze entered the palace and I breathed in the fresh air. "Do you still feel lonely?"

Jasem sat on the window sill and gave me a sad smile. "Honestly? Yes. Funny how I'm surrounded by new friends and adventure but there is only one person that still makes me feel alone. All because I simply can't have her."

I sat on the opposite end of the window sill and stared down at the kingdom. "You're talking about me, right?"

"Who else would I be talking about?" He chuckled. "There's really only one person in my life that I can't have and that's you. All because of the stupid prince and princess marriage rules. I don't get why I have to marry a princess. Can't I just marry whoever I love?"

I didn't say anything on that last bit. I had to prepare myself for my confession. Suddenly, he grabbed my hand and held it close to him. "Let's elope."

I couldn't help but start giggling. "What?" I gasped out.

"I'm serious! Let's run away together! We'll go wherever you want. Somewhere with open fields, the mountains, the ocean, anywhere. As long as I'm with you I don't mind. I'm in love with you, Rion." He confessed.

"We don't need to run away." I tried to calm down. "There won't be any issues if we got married because I'm a princess."

"Wait, what?" Jasem dropped my hand in shock. I wiped away my tears of laughter. "Did you just say that you're a princess?"

"I did. I'm actually the princess to this kingdom and my father just told me that he wanted me to rule instead. If we get married then there shouldn't be any problems between both of our families and the law." I revealed.

Jasem's look of shock morphed into pure joy. He began to laugh and he took my hand again. "Tonight has been quite the convenient night I suppose. What a twist!"

I couldn't help but agree with him.

"Rion? Will you marry me?" Jasem then asked through his laughing fit. "I promise to make you happy."
