I rushed back to my cabin to grab my sword for hand-to-hand combat. I then sprinted back to the main deck. The Shadow Sirens's ship was now almost right next to us and Blaise was instructing Cinder how the cannons work. "Snowen, can you use some powerful magic to slow them down or at least give us a fighting chance?"I asked, approaching another cannon.

"You're going to have to buy me enough time to muster enough energy, but yes, I can manage to do that." he answered as he began to swiftly head to his room. I assumed he was going to grab some spell books or potions or something. I looked up again to see the enemy right across from me. The pirates were preparing to board.

There was a sudden explosion and I looked at Cinder and Blaise. They were both smirking as the cannonball hit the side of the ship. I fired my own cannon and took out one of their own cannons. I shook my head. The reload time wasn't going to cut it. It took way too long and the pirates aren't slowing down.

"Cinder! Blaise! We're going to have to resort to melee fighting. I'll try my best to protect you both, but I need you to put in some effort as well. Go get ready. I'll hold them off here and wait." I ordered. They hesitantly obeyed and I watched as the pirates swung over.

All the men were old and scruffy-looking. They unsheathed their swords and smiled as they realized the only one they had to take on was me. I wasted no time in advance towards the closest pirate, swinging my sword and cutting him just below the knee. It wasn't enough to kill him, but he definitely won't be getting back up.

They seemed shocked at my sudden attack. I took advantage of the situation and cut the next pirate on the shoulder. I blocked and parried just in time to block another sword from hitting my stomach. I really started to feel the pressure of taking on so many men. I was severely outnumbered.

I parried again and stepped back from another blade. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed another pirate swinging down. Just before he cut me, he was knocked to the ground. Cinder struck the man pinning me against the railing with a blow to the knee.

"Thanks." I credited him. He nodded in response and went on taking out the other pirates with his sword. Blaise emerged later carrying what looked like a lance. It looked more like an antique than a weapon.

I kept an eye on Blaise while fighting to make sure he wouldn't get hurt. Blaise wasn't the type to fight, but he handled the lance remarkably well. We were still outnumbered, however, and the pirates had the upper hand. "Snowen! Where are you?" I shouted, hoping that he was nearby to lighten the load.

"I'm on it!" he shouted back, raising his hands towards the ocean. The water rose with his hand and he conducted it to wash over the pirates. Hmm, color me impressed.

Snowen's magic proved to be powerful against the enemies. The pirates slowly started to back off as the waves washed them off the ship to drown in the ocean. I started to think we could actually win this fight. That is until they resorted to using their cannons on my poor, tiny ship.

They all fired at once towards the bottom. I can feel the ship start to sink steadily down. I was so distracted by the cannons that I didn't notice the pirate behind me. Something hit my head, hard. I was seeing stars. Through the whirlwind of blur, I can see Cinder, Blaise, and even Snowen being taken down too.

My hands were bound behind my back. I was then pulled up and carried over his shoulder. I felt nauseous as he swung back over to his own ship. As I was set on their deck, I witnessed my hard work get swallowed up by the salt water. I wanted to cry. I shook with rage as the pirates whooped and hollered at their victory.

The other princes were bound and lay down next to me.

"Silence!" a voice called out, causing all the pirates to stop. They all stared forward patiently. It must be their captain. Some men shuffled back to make way for him to walk. Imagine my surprise to see a younger man with a feathered captain's hat and coat.
