*Asiah's POV*

Today is my dad's funeral after last night the only thing I want to do is lay in bed I thought about not going but Elijah talked me out of it saying that I could at least show my grief for my mother because once upon a time she did love him.

I'm in the shower I let the hot water run all over my body as my thoughts wonder 'Why did he leave? Was the very thought of me repulsive? How long was he living California? Did he ever think about me?'

“Babe, you okay?” Elijah says breaking me of my thoughts

“Yeah” I say softly

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah”

“I just dropped off Alexis with my mom”

“Okay”

“If you wanna talk you know you can talk to me”

“I know” I turn off the water I get out the shower “Can you hand me that towel?”

Elijah hands me the towel “Asiah pl--”

“No, I don't want to talk I just want to get ready” I say

“Okay, but when your ready to talk I'll be ready to listen”

I nod my head “Thank you”

He opens the bathroom door

There is a outfit already laid out of me on the bed “Did you do this?” I ask

“No, I thought you did”

I laugh without humor “My mom probably did”

“And she laid out my suit” he says

“Of course she did” I say picking up the the black dress on the bed

“Today we are here to honor Clarence Deon Wright today we are joined here by his family” Pastor Ross says pointing to the people sitting in the next row over from us

I squeeze Elijah’s hand 'Of course he has another family I mean he wasn't there for me but he was there for his other kids' I think to myself

“We have his daughter, Aaliyah, son, Justin and his wife, Brittany Wright”

Mom cries harder at this mention of his family I use my free hand to hold hers

Pastor Ross goes on about Clarence about how he was such a good man, husband, and father

“Now we have a few words from his widower, Brittany Wright”

The woman with long dark hair wrapped into a bun and light skin she stands up “Clarence was a good man he was always there for me and our children he was the love of my love I could never find another man like Clarence...I love him and I have a little peace knowing he's in a better place now". Then she goes back to her seat. I assume this guy is Justin because was previously sitting with the Brittany, she glares at him as he walks away.

“Now we'll have Clarence’s eldest child and only daughter, Aaliyah”

Aaliyah is a copy of her mother she starts talking

I can't take this anymore I get up and way from the funeral party I walk until I can't hear them anyone I lean against a tree and start crying.

“How did you know my dad?” a male voice says

I wipe my eyes quickly “No" I answer honestly

He raises an eyebrow “Are you a funeral crasher?”
